Before AC/DC...

...there was these guys - the Easybeats, with Angus's older brudder George

And here's the same singer Stevie Wright a few years later. I think there was some talk of him being the singer for AC/DC before they found Bon. His heroin habit might have got in the way though.

If anyone is interested in the history of Oz rock, check out the other stuff posted by the same guy, there's some real classics and some pretty rare footage.

Stevie Wright was a huge star here in the 60's with the Easybeats, but his solo career was very up and down due to his drug and alcohol problems. Evie (Pts 1,2 and 3) was a huge hit here, written by Vanda and Young fellow Easybeats.

There's over 300 videos posted by Mr Strathfield. There a fair bit of teenybopper pop fluff - much is from a TV show called Countdown. But there's lots of goodies like an early performance by INXS with an interview with Michael Hutchence. Check out bands like Daddy Cool, Midnight Oil, Radio Birdman, The Angels, Cold Chisel. Russell Morris 'The Real Thing' is worth checking out. There's Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Split Enz, Richard Clapton and my all time favourites...The Loved Ones.

Actually this one was posted by a guy called Tokenrecords. Anyone into 60's rarities should check out all his other stuff - it's a goldmine.

Bon Scott before AC/DC and I did not know he could actully sing that well.

he is the weirdest looking guy before his shave. He does look like goatboy. :D

is that a bassoon (correction needed) he's playing at the end?

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

That very first song on the first clip is very cool, it really rocks. Who's the Young bro, the tall guy or the short guy? I mean, for some reason I assumed he was one of the guitar players.

Compared to Angus he's tall... ok - he's the short bloke playing rhythm.

"The contribution of Harry Vanda and George Young to the Australian music industry - as songwriters, recording artists and producers - has spanned four decades, produced countless hits (for themselves and others) and earned them the coveted Ted Albert Memorial Award for The Most Outstanding Contribution to Australian Music presented by the Australasian Performing Right Association.

This contribution was further recognised with the awarding of Friday On My Mind as the number one Australian Song of the past 75 years at the 2001 (APRA) Australasian Performing Right Association awards."
