Carrison Sound 's site is running very slowly right now, but this guy hacked apart lots of thrift store toys and keyboards to make wacky noisemaking instruments. Anti-Theory 's site gives instructions on hacking toys and keyboards yourself. OK, I think I gotta go to my local Goodwill this weekend... :D

Great stuff...his site was a lot quicker back then...maybe he's had an increase in traffic? hmmm

Pop...you're a freak for even finding this stuff! I mean this in the best possible way from someone generally regarded as a freak. Nice work! Stop looking at me

I went to a thrift store this weekend and picked up a Crayola (?) electronic keyboard, a Playskool Little Strummer (a fake electric guitar for kids), a VTech Talking Whiz Kid Plus (a speaking toy), and a generic hot pink Star Mate (tm) keyboard. Total cost for the above items: Eight dollars and fifty cents. Not bad for the amount of entertainment I'll probably get from hacking these things apart... :) I plan to "circuit bend" some of these instruments later this week and see if anything good comes of it. If not... Well, I guess I can always donate 'em back to the thrift shop... By the way -- did anyone get a chance to listen to the mp3s on the Carrison Sound web site? There's some pretty amazing noise on there, especially considering what the guy used as his source... [ 10-28-2001: Message edited by: popmusic ]
