Sweet action on it - neck is much flatter and wider than i'm accustomed to on my Fender, but I like it. It does have a nasty backbow I need to fix - probably because it's been completely de-tensioned for awhile (it has a dial on the back for the bridge spring tension, and it was completely to the bottom when she got it)

That's a nice guitar. All the Ibanez's I ever see in music stores around here are crap. I've never seen any that look that nice (only in pictures).

Did you have to order that?

Yes, actually, my bandmates have commented on the improvement in my playing - in fact, this was an exchange yesterday between me and my singer (NO KIDDING, NOT A JOKE)

Singer: Yeah, man, your chops are way tighter on the Ibanez!

Me: Oh shut up, that was all slop anyway!

Singer: Yeah, but your slop sounds more convincing with the Ibanez over your Fender....

Yes, that's a beautiful piece of flame, isn't it?

As to the backbow - it's nasty - high E string all the way up to 8 is double-fretting - but I've got 3 weeks between now and next show to massage it out with some truss adjustments. I'm pretty confident I can pull it off.

Also gotta find a trem bar for it on the cheap.

Realising that Ibanez makes good (and in some cases *very* good) guitars comes as no surprise.

The ST series made from late 70s to the mid 80s is a vastly underrated journeyman's guitar and at current rates on eBay are a tremendous bargain - and the Artist and Musician series were mostly superb.

Those of you talking about Double Cut LPs should really go out & try some of the Artist series guitars from the 70s & 80s - you might be more than surprised.

My ST-105 is constructed beautifully from mahogany & maple with a set neck. Shaped something like an SG with the weight of an LP, it's a very useful instrument.

The original V2 pups were not for me, having too much in the way of mids & low treble for my taste, but many like them.

I've replaced them with DiMarzio PAFs (neck coil-taps) to maintain the look and I just love this guitar.

I think because the brand is associated with shredders these days, many people not into that don't give them a fair crack of the whip. The Ibanez basses are also really good.

Believe me, Jeff, it came as a total surprise to me. I was a bona fide Ibanez-hater until our first show, when my bottom E broke and they handed me the above beauty to fill in. My girl bought it later after scouring around and (unsuccessfully) trying to find a good condition BC Rich NJ series. She went in there and picked it up and said "DAMN, now I know what he liked about this axe so much!"

Helps when your girlfriend played guitar for 20-odd years, therefore knowing a thing or two about quality axes...

My very first `working` guitar was a 70s Ibanez Artist-it`s been halfway around the planet and back and except for some effects of climate flipflop, it`s still playable. I got some cool pics of it too but have to wait for the weekend to get em loaded.

Anyway that looks really nice-I was looking at some of the new Ibees a while back, it`s amazing how nice the woods are for what they`re asking.

Same old surprises, brand new cliches-

Most of the RG's and S (used to be called Sabres) models, like the Griffinator's, use bolt-on necks. I like the S necks, but the Wizard II's on the RG's rock. There are some RG's and S's with neck thru construction. :)

Great score on the guitar, griff.
