Alex UK
Hello! We're looking to buy a lap steel guitar for my friends birthday but don't have a clue what model or make would make a good, cheap beginners guitar. Does anyone have any suggestions? Much appreciated. picker
I you can order from Musician's Friend over their in the UK, THIS isn't a bad one to start with. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Trucks
Yeah, What Picker said. But bare in mind when costing it out that all packages are being checked at UK customs at the moment because of the security 'problems'. So its likely you will have to pay import tax plus 17.5% VAT on top. Soundclick Myspace
The Geoff
Check that MF will send to UK - sometimes they don't. LMO
Two makes that are in the beginner's price range but good enough to use as a pro are the Chandler RH-2 and Dynalap. http://www.chandlerguitars.com/rh2.html Dynalap@aol.com Dynalap only makes 8-string models now; they are as a kit for $230 or finished for $400. Gabriel E.
There are also TONS of "vintage" lap steels for sale on ebay. Many are very cheap since demand is pretty low. You can get a nice one from the 50s for a couple hundred $$. "You never can vouch for your own consciousness." - Norman Mailer

Alex Alex, Contact Loni Specter from this page: http://www.lapdancerguitars.com Or from this page: www.ampshow.com The amp show page is probably the better page as it is much more current. Loni knows more about lap steels than just about anybody and is a great resource on all the brands out there. Myles S.
