Marco Pereira

Pop/Rock/Metal Bands:

Ohm: (Instrumental), both their studio releases are awesome

Shawn Lane & Jonas Hellborg.. if you like Ohm most likely you'll like these guys. I only own "Good People In Times of Evil", will buy more later.

Icy Demons

La Barranca - (cd's: Tempestad & El alacrán)

Jaguares - El equilibrio de los jaguares (guitarist, bassist and drummer are the same as in La Barranca's first two albums, listed above)

Gustavo Cerati - Bocanada

Cynic - Focus (warning: this is death metal w/ a ridiculously-sounding synth voice)

Atheist - Elements (more death metal from Florida, early 90's)

There's a very cool band called "Dada" that had a somewhat hit back in the '90s called "Dizz Knee Land".

They're from Texas and have a sort of college/indie meets Texas blues sound. I really enjoy most of their stuff.

Guitarist (and vocalist) Michael Gurley is a pretty good player and always has cool parts.

Another band I really like is "The Sundays" - in fact my band's name (Too Much Fiction) comes from a lyric line in their song "Summer Time".

They haven't released any new music in at least 5 years (probably more), but the combination of the many overlayed guitar parts of (husband) David Gavurin and vocals of (wife) Harriet Wheeler is excellent to my ears.

No official website, but an unofficial one is: http://www.huan.com/sundays

I also recommed the band Luce (pronounced "loose") - they (really, its Tom Luce and friends) have 2 excellent CDs of interesting pop-ish stuff. You may have heard the song "Pretty Good Day"...

Enjoy!
