unix-guy Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 There's a very cool band called "Dada" that had a somewhat hit back in the '90s called "Dizz Knee Land". They're from Texas and have a sort of college/indie meets Texas blues sound. I really enjoy most of their stuff. Guitarist (and vocalist) Michael Gurley is a pretty good player and always has cool parts. The website is: http://www.dadatheband.com/ Another band I really like is "The Sundays" - in fact my band's name (Too Much Fiction) comes from a lyric line in their song "Summer Time". They haven't released any new music in at least 5 years (probably more), but the combination of the many overlayed guitar parts of (husband) David Gavurin and vocals of (wife) Harriet Wheeler is excellent to my ears. No official website, but an unofficial one is: http://www.huan.com/sundays I also recommed the band Luce (pronounced "loose") - they (really, its Tom Luce and friends) have 2 excellent CDs of interesting pop-ish stuff. You may have heard the song "Pretty Good Day"... Website is: http://www.luceband.com/ Enjoy! Kevin '87/'88 Ibanez Sabre's (4), '86 Ibanez PL1770, Budda SuperDrive 18 (1x12 and 2x12), GeorgeL Cables, Barber Direct Drive (best $99 ever spent!), Hermida ZenDrive, Nobels ODR-1, Morley Bad Horsie II, numerous other pedals...
