That whole "no loops, no overdubs" thing makes me cringe. Who cares--is the music good or not?

Reminds me of the 80's when "no synthesizers were used on this album" was bouncing around....

Hedges had it right--compose first, then play.

That looks like an acoustic version of the Chapman Stick.

Greg Howard does this kind of stuff - really amazing.

However, for impossible finger-tapping guitar work, look no further than Stanley Jordan - he did all this on a 6-string and created spectacular melodies as well...

I love Stanley Jordan's first album. It has, in my opinion, the most beautiful version of Thad Jones' A Child Is Born. Absolutely carries the theme of that title into my imagination. Very powerful. Also a great version of Freddy The Freeloader.

It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman

Ah ha! That makes sense. Kind of like a built in Third Hand capo! Cool, I want one....

Agreed.
Ditto.

The constant rhythmic pinging of his fret hand/bass parts got on my nerves after awhile.

Give me Charlie Hunter as someone with self sufficient technique, but doesn't sound like it.
