Hey! Who you callin' "mature"?!? :D

Yep, that's my baby girl, Lillian. 7 years old going on 30. ;)

I think it's perfectly acceptable to have a cultural definition and a separate scientific definition. Scientifically, it should not be called a planet, unless all other KBO's get that status too...which would make every kid in school hate scientists for having to learn MANY more planets. Science should be bound by clear, logical definitions, not by customs. I'm sure that pluto will always have a special mention in textbooks, based on culture and its history.

No no Zan, you'll never figure out the arera of a circle that way! The correct formula is "I are square".
first i need to figure what "arera" is ;)
It's the part of a circle that is half the length of the radius, plus the diameter, times the area, divided by pi. It looks like this:

(r/2 + D)(A/pi)=Arera :D

I just don't wanna know

I still think guitars are like shoes, but louder.

Priceless!! :D

I was, of course, referring to your recent use of Abbey pics for your avatar. So if she's not the penguin, is that a polar bear suit? :D

You mean the recent use of pics, other then Abbey?

I switched to something else for now. Abbey has been in my avatar for 2 years now. Although, I'm sure she will return. ;)

Personally, I&I'm meteoric.

So astronomical bodies don't conveniently fit into convenient categories anymore? How inconvenient!

But welcome to the real universe!

At any rate, a planet by any other name would smell as sweet!

I've been mulling this over all day. Not that it makes a big difference in my life or anything, but I'm flabbergasted that a descriptive word such as, "planet," can go thousands of years without a scientific definition. That's just amazing. And weird.

I agree. I suppose the "planet" label was added, long before they really had a grasp on what was out there.

Hey! Off topic I know, but I just noticed that broke the 5000 post mark! Congrats to me! :D

Nothing. The Sun and the Moon are an integral part of astrology and neither one is a planet.

NOW... what *I* find interesting is... what is going to happen if and when humans are born on other planets (say, Mars) and Mars can no longer be part of the star chart mainly because they're standing on it.
