fantasticsound Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 What are you guys talking about?!? Nobody's mentioned the best dogs in the world yet. Vienna All-Beef out of Chicago. Ballpark Franks are dreck. Don't belong in the thread. Hebrew National are excellent too, but I give the nod to Vienna despite them not being kosher. Then, you have to put it in a bun worthy of such a hotdog. Whether steamed, boiled or charred (grilled), the best there is are S. Rosen's poppyseed buns. Finest Kind! You can't find a better Chicago dog anywhere. It took me a decade of waiting before someone finally opened an honest to goodness Chicago hot dog joint in Nashville. (Actually, in Hendersonville, 10 miles northeast of Nashville.) It turns out the original proprietor was from the same area north of Chicago where I grew up and knew how to make the business right. He decided to sell it, but the local family he sold it to are committed to the same great hotdogs, Italian Beef, etc. he'd been making. Every visit is a treat. (And thank goodness I don't have to drive 8+ hours to get one now! ) Of course, I'd be more than willing to try your upstart Rochester dogs, Greg. I lived in Germany for 14 months when I was 13-14 years old. Fell in love with beef "rindwurst" which were spicy and served with a "brotchen" (hard roll). Not a Chicago dog but a delight in their own way. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
Gifthorse Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 How do you guys liek your dogs? I prefer mine boiled or steamed. I know alot of peopel like grilled. For me I like the water so it gets rid of some of the saltiness on the outside. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse
LPCustom Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 For Hot Dogs it's Hebrew National (not the low fat stuff) or nothing. Any other kind of hot dog will make me sick to my stomach if I eat more than one (and even one makes me queasy). But I prefer Andouile sausage cooked on the grill to hotdogs. Born on the Bayou
Boggs Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Best way to do 'em is steam 'em in beer and then throw 'em on the grill for a bit... MMmmmmmm Check out my Rock Beach Guitars page showing guitars I have built and repaired... http://www.rockbeachguitars.com
King Kamehameha Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I'm with ya LP. Hewbrew National is pretty nice. Though I can definitely eat others. "My two Fender Basses, I just call them "Lesbos" because of the time they spend together in the closet."-Durockrolly This has been a Maisie production. (Directed in part by Spiderman)

Chad Thorne Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 In Maine we have red hot dogs - natural casing with some sort of red coloring in it. They snap when you bite them and they're a bit more savory than your standard dog. Some people don't like them but I love 'em - two red dogs, wash 'em down with a Moxie. Yeah, buddy!
