i was having a hotdog and thought..

"i wonder how hotdogs or wieners from different countries taste"

i would think there are differences in hotdogs even between provinces and states.

here on the east coast we have Larsens weiners and a few other brands like Mapleleaf or Schnieders.

i am curious to just how dogs vary around the world.

tell me about your "dogs".

I eat the Hewbrew National ones or whatever they're called....I like to know what I'm eating.

Unless it's a Fenway Frank. In which case, I will eat them even though they are green and LIKE it.

Actually, Maple Leaf's processing plant is here in Burlington, so it's the main brand around here. The downside is, when I'm in that area of town, I get to see the truck loads of pigs going in. They're great big trucks with wooden slates so the pigs can see out and I can see in. The pigs look happy enough. Snorting and looking about. You'd think that they would use those ugly, furry pigs, but they actually use those cute, pink pigs.

At the end of the day you get to see the truck loads of hot dogs, bologna and what have you, coming out.

It kind of adds a new layer to the whole thing, when you get to meet the fellows that will soon be food... :freak:

Funny thing, though, "wiener" as slang...generally applied to a portion of the male anatomy...not so "frankfurter".

If you look at the words seriously, though, "Frankfurter" means coming from Frankfurt, Germany, while "Wiener" is the same sort of thing, coming from Wien (Vienna), Austria.

Now what does this say about people from Vienna? Not very flattering, is it?

Well...I suppose it depends on how you look at it. There could be a reason that they are known for that in Austria..... Then maybe it's a compliment to be called a "weiner". :D Maybe dads teach their sons "Only use what you need to get the job done, son....you hardly ever need the whole thing..."

Never argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Yeah! they are all over the place... a funny thing there is this Coney Island over in Royal Oak not too far from where FlagShipMile lives and sometimes we go there after the gig if we don't stay over night in Canada and I wanted a big foot long Coney Island and the waitress looked at me like I had two heads LOL!! yeah they serve them but she said they don't get allot of requests of them ... I mean their menu is HUGE!! like four foldouts on both sides in living color and VERY SHINEY!! plastic!! Omlets are the speciality I think!

I always get the chicken kebob at Leo's. It isn't the best kebob in town, but it is reasonably priced. Beirut Palace has awesome lamb/chicken kebobs (gotta get the lamb medium rare).

My guitarist John dated Leo's daughter in highschool or middle school dunno. I knew John his son. He was a total goofball like me. You know, way too silly. My best friend lived down the street from him and for a while we hung out and played Odyssey KC Munchkin or Pick Axe Pete. Not sure..

Alot of people around the country that lived in Michigan miss Coney Island restaurants.

By the way I think the one in Royal Oak is the best Leo's I have been to.
