Traben Bass?

Bluesape

Recommended Posts

My buddy checked one out today in Cambridge, Ontario. We were ogling gear again like broke fools are prone to do. This thing had active electronics, played and sounded great, flame top, neck through(I think) for $529.00 Cdn. It's Korean built, but very impressive. The bridge looks like one of Worf's Klingon battle weapons. Anyone know about 'em?

I also checked out a PRS SE Soapbar II for the same money, and as I mentioned in a former thread, I've never been as impressed with a Pacific Rim guitar. These things are incredible! It may even beat the Freeway into my clutches, as I have many Strat types, but no P90 axe.

There was also a new carved top mahogany Gibson LP Studio for $990.00, but for that much cash I can get the Freeway AND the Soapbar II, and they both smoke the Gibby on playability AND tone IMHO!

Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!

It's the same as the SE standard, except for the P90s. Incredible neck, all mahogany, pearloid dot markers, great finish. Gimme an ebony board and it's outta there!

That's nice too!! The heavier axe gives the P-90 some low end $alls, in a fat, pleasing way. I do like a SG with P-90 also! They have an edge that is very raw, and powerful.....aka old Pete T.

Bluesape, I sense a void in your arsenal that NEEDS to be filled. ;):D

We just had chili from hell - no voids here - burnt to a crisp!

Back to this Traben bass - a very impressive find - would like to hear from anyone who knows about 'em.

I've just read all the reviews on Traben in Harmony Central and there are none which are actually bad, although a couple are kind of neutral.

Generally, people are pleased with what they've got.

A plus point is that they all seem to be 35" scale.

The minus (for me) is they all have a basswood body.

I've had experience with basswood before and personally, I don't like it much.

Not to worry. There is an easy cure to arsenal voids! It may hurt your pocketbook, but will provide a temporary cure for G.A.S.!
