Still Learning
I just won an ebay auction for item # 200014233790 and was hoping some of you guys would let me know if I got a good deal, an average deal, a bad deal, or a total scam. I'm just getting into guitar and this is my first left-handed electric guitar. I paid $232.00. I'd be interested in your opinion. Click here (ebay\'s web site) and paste in 200014233790 to see the listing. Thanks When most people go to work, they work. When musicians go to work, they play. Which do you prefer? Hairfarmer
A new one with a hard shell case will run you between $450.00 and $500.00 after taxes, on your best day. So, based on the guitar being 4 years old with some minor road rash, I'd say you got an average deal. Probably what you would have paid for the same used guitar & case in most shops. But definitely not a bad deal or a scam. Not if it's what the owner says it was. Especially since it's a lefty model. I definitely think it's a purchase you can feel good about. Hey uh,...don't let others in this forum tell you that a better deal could have been had. You saw something you wanted and went for it. Good for you. Ricardo.
Looks like a fine deal to me. Especially if you're looking for something playable (not an investment). Cosmetic dings should be a non-issue; so $200 for (allegedly) a guitar that's been set up, and comes with a hard case, that you presumably like, AND left handed sounds fine. I'm just repeating what Hairfarmer said but I have a laughably low post count for the amount of time I've been frequenting this forum.
Still Learning
Thanks Kerry and Ricardo, I don't know very much about guitars, but I have been playing an Epi LP standard and an Epi LP 100 at a local store and I do know I value the standard over the 100 even factoring in the significant price differential between the two. I was also playing a lefty Mexican Fender strat at a local Guitar Center which I liked quite a bit and actually I couldn't decide between the two styles; strat or LP. Maybe because I was born in Waukesha County Wisconsin in 1960 had something to do with me buying the LP Anyway, bidding on ebay is a strange thing isn't it? Before I started bidding I told myself that I wouldn't go above $175.00, then during the last 5 minutes of that auction I told myself my limit was $185.00, then $200.00, then...thankfully the auction ended! Rock Soldier
That is a nice guitar at a fair price. I think you did good. A.K.A. TRGuitar
Still Learning
Thanks trguitar, the guy (his first name is Kevin) is being rather anti-social about shipping it however. He is a kid who is still living in mom and dads house in Nashua New Hampshire and even though I paid in full within 6 hours of the end of the auction he has not given me to courtesy of informing me if/when he intends to ship it. I have asked (very nicely) several times to update me and provide a USPS tracking # but still nothing. He posted his home phone #, his cell phone #, his first and last name, and his home address on ebay and I rec'd an email with all that info so I have started to call mom and dad's house. I talked to his mom today who had no idea that junior was selling stuff on ebay!! Oh well... I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I'll keep you guys posted on the progress of this little $200.00 drama. Hey one more question for you guys, if/when I finally do receive it, is there a website or some other way to find out what year it was manufactured if I have the model # and serial #?
