GuitarPlayerFL
Eddie Van Halen, that is. He's contributing 2 new tracks (Rise and Catherine) to a movie and the soundtrack is coming out soon. See the Van Halen News Desk - EVH Music for the links and YouTube video. The playing is pretty cool...basically noodling around, but still interesting. Robman
The tracks are for a porn film and the music is absolutely horrible. Sorry to say this as I am a huge EVH fan but this guys mind is fried and the music is totally suffering from it. synthetic
Yeah, he's written the porn music, sat in with Kenny Chesney and played a gig for a flower shop. Meanwhile Sammy is touring with Michael Anthony. What's up with that guy? Back on the wagon, apparently. He played the flower shop gig with Patrick Leonard, hopefully Pat is kicking his ass into recording some new music. Apparently Patrick produced some tracks years ago with the band that were never released, I would love to hear those. (PL produced Pink Floyd, Roger Waters, Toy Matinee, Madonna, etc.) Come back, Eddie.

Gabriel E.
Regardless of the music's purpose, the sad reality is that it's sh***y. Even his tone is lousy. Sounds like he's jamming with a POD and a drum machine. He can do a lot better. quah
I am no fan of porn movies but you gotta give them credit for this one. There are about six million porn s released every year so to make yours stand out what are you going to do? nobody will remember the neame of the movie but it will be "that one that Van-halen played the music on". This is a good business move for whoever produced the movie and I think it was probably fun for Eddie to just jam some without the whole 'van-halen' thing hanging around his neck. dave esmond
I don't know. I like those tracks. It's not meant to be "solo guitar music", it's backing music from a movie. I don't mind that it's porn. I like it better the the soundtrack to Grizzly Man by Richard Thompson, and I love Thompson.

rw2003
EVH aside, I wonder how many players here would turn down an offer to score or at least play guitar on the soundtrack to porn flick. Let's say Michael Ninn made you an offer of $10,000 up front and a small percentage of the gross. Any takers??? IMO, I don't think EVH has "jumped the shark" just yet... he's only in his early 50s... give him a little time to get his act together. doc taz
Say what you will about pr0n, but you've got to admit that the production value for the movie seems rather high, considering the subject material. It's kind of interesting and disturbing at once. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page

A String
The "couples" porn is very mild and very romantic. It's not like the XXX, Stag film porn, you may be used to seeing. Personally, I don't understand it. If you want to watch a movie, watch a movie. If you want to watch porn, watch porn. What's the point of having something in between that is neither? It's a nice escape from the typical Hollywood movie. Oh well, if I wanted more 'porn', I'd watch the animal shows on the National Geographic channel on cable. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page
