Think one of the best images I see in that clip is, (besides them all on stage), is that blueish- black tarp moving around... now if I'm correct... that's one Yoko ono trapped under that.. and I think (if thats her), thats the best i've seen and heard from her.. but it would have been better if she would have just climbed on the rock she came from first.. just my thoughts =)

I completely missed Yoko in the bag!! She was so bizzare :freak: ...and, really, so was John. But, he was so brilliant on so many levels, that it was easy to accept him. Yoko, well.....I was never sure how she qualified to be as involved as she was in John's, or the Beatles' music.

I just finished reading "Here, There, and Everywhere; My Life Recording the Music of The Beatles", by Geoff Emerick. Emerick tells of some really strange goings on, related to Yoko. And, he does specifically mention that Yoko used to get into a sac on stage. Apparently, there were times when John came out onstage for a show literally dragging the bag with Yoko in it, behind him!! This book is fantastic, and if you are a Beatles fan, or interested in the process of recording music, it is, IMHO, a MUST READ. :thu:

Watching the video again today, I noticed how good a guitarist John was! And, that voice....wow.

Also, EC was playing thru a Fender amp, wasn't he? ??A Bassman head??? I couldn't tell.

I think that was it but I'm not sure.

He did sound great though, especially with the 335. It just makes me want one even more.

I've really grown to appreciate Clapton's playing more since working on the 2nd solo to Crossroads. He does these high-fretted bends that are just killing my hand right now. I just finished spending about 1.5 hours on just 4 measures of this particular run and my left hand is just thrashed; I can't do anymore.

Hey Hard Tail...I totally agree about Clapton's leads, esp. in his early years...Bluesbreaker/Cream/Derek/early solo era. He played with a power and innovation that isn't seen too often. He took the roots bluesmen's music to another level, aided by modern amplification. But, mostly aided by a genius for taking roots music and reinventing it into something completely new.

I checked out your Soundclick stuff that you posted on the other thread. And, it sounds like your hard work is paying off. :thu: I was playing your Crossroads lead on my computer, and my youngest son, Jeffery, came over and said how much he loved that solo.

Thanks. That one was recorded a few months ago and I can do it far better than advertised now. The little, subtle technique things I have down better.

I'll put a new one out one of these days.

The 2nd one is quite challenging (but rewarding) in some spots.

With Crossroads, what turned into just a tune to learn is becoming a blues analysis tool for me.

Hey Elwood....you think that that is the actual "customized" amp that Pete had at that time? How did you ever figure that out??

BTW...that's a cool Who site. Pete's equipment use, and innovation, over the years is quite educational.

I think it might be because Pete and Eric where close friends. As far as I know the only customizaton on that Pro was that someone cut the bottom of it off and put on a new bottom board, just like they did on mine!

El....looking at the video again, with the photo of Pete playing that amp up next to it on my computer here, I think they may be the same! The "Fender" logo on the customized head is too big....likely because it was made for it when it was a combo....meaning made larger than you would make it if it were for a head. And, the one Clapton is playing on the video looks the same size. I doubt there were many heads like that one!
