BadLife Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 I too would go with a 50 watt Marshall half stack. But if you play country the Deluxe would be a far better choice.

Twins likely have more touring history, and are exceptionally tough, but damn heavy when youth fades away. A friend has 2 Deluxes, and is convinced he'll never need another amp. This amp makes far more sense to me than a JR, as it can hold its own with all but the most brutal of drummers. another friend has a JCM900 50W combo that is very similar in size, but much heavier and more powerful, at the expense of that unique clean tone that has always eluded Marshalls, and it's not as pedal friendly. For a guy like me who prefers to shape his sound with outboard fx, few amps, if any, can deliver the baseline sound of a Deluxe. One of the main reasons I love these amps is that you can pick the up in one hand and toss them into any compact car with ease. This is a bit more difficult with a head and speaker cabs. Myles S. I don't find that to be true of the JCM 2000's, especially the TSL's. The fx loop works great with both rack and pedal processors. And the clean channels stay clean, even up to ear-splitting levels, unless you're using pickups with a lot of output, like EMG's or Duncan Invaders. As for the best amp? Didn't Z. Vex make a 1 watt tube amp a while ago that could drive a 4x12 cab? I want one of those. Zachary Vex still makes that amp and it an absoulute blast in the studio http://zvexamps.com/images/Front.jpg http://zvexamps.com/amp_view.html Myles S. Gifthorse Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 Since I got my Bivalve the search is over for me too. I mean I can get any tone I want out of it. I haven't experimented too much with super cleans. I suppose you could get that too from it with the right tube config and the low gain input. The distortion is some of the coolest, I have heard. I think I would probably like the Flexi too, maybe more I dunno. Seems like most guys like the Flexi better. I can pretty much get the tones I want from my Bivalve. The only drawback to it is the crappy FX loop, but maybe they couldn't do it any other way. I really would only use the loop for delay anyways.. I was going to return those tubes Myles (the GT preamp tubes) but I ended up leaving them at a gig like a retard. I had this bag on the side of the stage with tubes in it, and there was a fog machine BLASTING ME while I was getting my stuff off the stage. I know it musta been funny watching me lean down to grab something and having this TURBO SMOKE MACHINE blasting in my face--would have been a nice Utube video. But I ended up not seeing the bag and I left it there. Oh well, stupid mistake. I lost a really cool AT7 that I loved. The GT AT7 isn't the same, and the old AT7 didn't have anything written on it except 12AT7. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse
