Xplorer
Who's got dirty strings? You know what I'm talking about. Fess up! I can personally say my strings are shiny and bright, except for one. I checked. One of my warlocks hasn't been played in months, but the string are clean, but they sound dead. What a horrible night to have a curse. King Kamehameha
Just changed the strings on ALL 3 of the boys. But on two of them, kept the same low E. I made mistakes. Hardtail
Changed the strings on both of my guitars last weekend. I generally change them once every 3-4 weeks; 5 at the most depending on how often I've gotten my paws on them.
AeroG33k
I have lots of dirt on my strings right now, Im waiting to change them until I get settled at the new place (back at the unierversity). BadLife
I don't change strings till I break one. That would make them dirty. Although I have gone through 3 or 4 sets in a night

Xplorer
I set-up a Black Gibson ES-135 for a buddy that had so much crud on the high E string, that it felt like a hacksaw blade. I've had some pretty nasty strings. Do you think it's the difference between most praticing musicains and a hobbiest guitar player like myself? I'll bet nasty strings would drive some of these seasoned pros nuts! Bone nuts! What a horrible night to have a curse.

Dr. Ellwood
I change strings on the active instuments, the ones I always take to the gig every week, every Wednesday so they are ready and done stretching for Friday and Saturday nights. Sometimes I will grab a instrument that I don't normally take like last week I took the L4 and ended up playing it all night, the strings where older but not used from the last time I changed them so they where fine. Three or four guitars always go to the gig. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Justus A. Picker
I change 'em after 10-12 hours of playing time. Old, dead strings serve no purpose. http://www.smokedsalmonband.com/exile/exile1.jpg
Big Red 67
Played my six string bass the other day and got black stuff on my fingers. Huh,... They look clean. Big Red's Ride Blog
MILLO
If you're the middle line on the A, maybe you've got some dirt in you... I meant on... rotosound45
Mine are turning black. I've put off changing them for a week now, because I have a new five-way switch for another guitar (also has dirty strings) that I want to get swapped out at the same time. So now it's two string jobs, plus my two basses could use new sets...
skipclone 1
How many dump trucks do you have... Wait, you`re talking about strings? Oh no, I don`t put up with dirt. I don`t care if they`re in active play or not, I don`t deal with it. New strings. Guitarzan
my strings are usually cahnged before they hit one month. my guitars are always in the case and every string change involves a polish with steel wool on the frets. dirt equals friction. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
fantasticsound
I change my strings about once every six months to a year, whether they need 'em or not! Actually (and I don't want to start a damn Elixir rulez/suckz thread) I use webbed strings on my acoustics because my fingers put so much crud on the strings. A simple wipe keeps them clean and the timbre is consistant for many months at a time. If I were playing out I'd change them a minimum of once a week or every gig, but that would require an endorsement deal. It's easiest to find me on Facebook.
