Loopyloo
Hi, Could anyone help please? Here's the prob: My boyf and i are moving into a flat soon so he won't be able to play his electric guitar at full volume without irritating all the neighbours. He likes to play along with his hifi. Is there a way to wire the hifi and the amp together ... then use headphones? Also .... can the headphones be wireless? Do you know any good wireless headphones at all that don't lose any quality etc. ? Trying to surpise him (and maintain my own sanity!! as he likes to practise a lot!) I hope you can help. Thank you. alittlebatty
Laura- That isn't necessary-there's devices out there that would enable him to play with or without CDS on a headset. Tascam makes such a gizmo called the Tascam CD-GT 1. Shop around for a good price, and good luck!
A String
Since you posted here, I'm assuming you have a computer. Have him plug the output of his amp into the "Line In" of your sound card. Then, pop in a cd, plug in the head phones and away you go. (Remember to check to make sure that the "Line In" isn't muted. A lot of times it's muted by default.) Darcy H
I have that Tascam, it also allows you to loop sections of tracks and slow stuff down to play along, a great training aid, but I do find the "tone" less than desireable for really letting rip. Another option thats available; quite a few small amps can be played with headphones instead of using it's speaker (just plugging the headphones in mutes the speaker), and they have CD/Mp3 inputs so you can play along, the Roland Cube's come to mind. I got a Cube 30 for my daughter and she loves it, and if Mom's not home, she can crank the amp through the speaker and it's plenty loud. As a bonus it models the tones of the most desireable amps, and does a fair job of it. Roland also make a Mini-Cube, I'm not sure of it's options but I imagine they are the same as the larger Cube, and that would suit the bill quite nicely, and I believe it'd be significantly cheaper than the Tascam. www.myspace.com/darcyhoover
