jimash Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Ellwood, I didn't think there was anything wrong with the original question. Case in point is an expression. Case and point isn't. Maybe you meant like, set and match or, check and mate.

Dr. Ellwood Posted August 7, 2006 Author Posted August 7, 2006 Case in point is an expression there is no doubt! but that is not what the conversation is about. Where do expressions come from? They are terms that are said over and over again and are used in appropriate circumstances. If you Google Case and Point you will find it was been used in newspaper, editorials etc. after that it becomes a expression, one may be more used than the other, but that still does not prohibit anyone using what ever they think is appropriate. What I meant was Case and Point made, as in the original poster making a comment and by that comment made the case and the point as to his qualifications to comment on anything that is even close to reasonable, including his apparent inclusion in a certain genre of music. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Ricardo. Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Case and point is valid English. But that was a joke post anyways.

Actually, the idiom is spoken " case in point ", not "case and point". But you better calm down there, old fella. I think you need a drink. Ricardo. Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Hardtail, how many times have the forum regulars group forum-raped those new guys who come to take locally unpopular positions on tab and rap?
