RockNRoll Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Hello all, For those that use multiple stomp boxes as their setup, how would you connect direct into a mixer or PA set up? Would a simple standard direct box do the trick or are there other specialized devices you can connect to the end of your signal chain to hook up direct into a mixer or PA set up? Thanks for the advice!
doc taz Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 It depends on what you expect out of your tone onstage. If you like what your boxes spit out without anything else coloring your signal, then a line level direct box should be okay. If you need something that sounds like a guitar amp, then you may want something like the Tech 21 SansAmp boxes (GT2, TriOD, etc.). In your case, you should be fine with placing the DI right at the end of your signal chain. That way, you can use the DI as a master volume. sevenstring.org profile my flickr page
The Geoff Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 I have a digitech GNX-1 which can be set up to connect direct, as can many other multi FX pedals. Like Dr Taz, I'd use a DI box, although mine doesn't have a master volume. G. Rock Soldier Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 You could go straight from the pedal into the board if you have a 1/4" input and if you use a chanel that has a preamp you will have some EQ and gain adjustments, although it will be a microphone preamp and might not sound as nice as a guitar preamp. Personally I would use a Sans Amp or similar product to get the sound of a mic'd cab and go into a line level input on the board. A.K.A. TRGuitar
