KARL FISHER
I HAVE PLAYED AROUND WITH AN OLDER MULTITRACK RECORDER (FOSTEX), AND NOW WOULD LIKE TO GET THE BEST ONE I CAN WITHIN MY BUDGET. HAS ANYONE HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE TASCAM 414 MKII???? I HAVE MY OWN RACK EFFECTS, AND DO NOT RECORD ONTO COMPUTER, ECT., SO THIS UNIT APPEARS TO HAVE ALL THE OTHER QUALITIES I WOULD NEED. HOW ABOUT THE SOUND QUALITY ONCE FOUR TRACKS HAVE BEEN RECORDED ONTO THE TAPE? THE OLDER (10-YEARS?) FOSTEX LOST SOME SOUND QUALITY BY THE TIME ALL THE TRACKS WERE RECORDED. PART OF THAT COULD HAVE BEEN WORN HEADS, AND ELECTRONICS I SUPPOSE. THANKS TO ALL WHO CAN HELP!! THIS IS A GREAT SITE!! ------------------ Skynyrd fan forever! gtrmac
The Tascam stuff if pretty good for the money in general. I used a 488MK2 for a few years and it sounded fine. I used to have a 688 also which was good. I switched to a computer based system a few years ago and it is a lot better feature wise but the simplicity of a Portastudio is often a good thing.
