alittlebatty Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Here's the deal: I saw this up for auction-the seller claims he gets the guitars back from Epi that didn't make the 100% perfect rating, and he sells these off at discount. I've never heard of this, his customers seem happy, and I wanted opinions because while the price is good, and I'm tempted, part of my brain is holding back. And yeah,I know it has 6 strings-but I've always adored SGs and this looks soooo cool........ Epi SG
Mudcat Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 Looks like E-bay has removed the listing. I suspect there is something fishy going on her. I would be surprised if Epiphone released factory seconds. Gibson stopped selling seconds decades ago. Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. Wear glasses if you need 'em."-The Webb Wilder Credo-
Guitarzan Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 what was the specific model of the link? http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
alittlebatty Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 I did the link incorrectly....it's an Epiphone G310 Emily the Strange Electric Guitar Gibson and the listing is still active...... SG
Guitarzan Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 seems like a fair deal, the g310 is a bolt on. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
alittlebatty Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 Hey Zan,haven't seen that avatar for awhile! It seems like a fair price, now what's different on it as far s I can tell is the knobs-in a catalog I recieved yesterday, the knobs have a white swirl on them. What makes this fishy to me is the same reason Mudcat mentioned.
dead mike Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 musiciansfriend has a bunch of epi factory seconds. My friend bout an epi sg for 200 CDN, basically threw his money away. Go with the les paul for 350 way better deal.

Mudcat Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 That does seem like a good deal (even for a bolt-on neck). I really like the "Emily the Strange" paint-job. I got to thinking and I realized I've seen some Epi factory seconds at Musicians Friend. I'd say go for it. Mudcat's music on Soundclick "Work hard. Rock hard. Eat hard. Sleep hard. Grow big. Guitar Geezer Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I think an EMILY would be perfect for you go for it girl Lynn G
alittlebatty Posted July 28, 2006 Author Posted July 28, 2006 The paint job is fantastic! But then I was thinking along the lines of Darklava-after all,it's not about looks entirely, but quality. Dark that is a nice faded Gibson.. ..reminds me of a guitar a friend of mine had many years ago. If I remember correctly, you have an SG? Zan......harmless torturing is what I do best....what happened to your other avatar?
Darklava Posted July 28, 2006 Posted July 28, 2006 I sold the sg but got me one of these http://www.marshallamps.com/images/product_overview/tsl100feature.jpg I know Zan i said the plexi but that didn't work out.Still have the LP too for that good Gibson Marshall crunch. HedZeppelin Posted August 2, 2006 Posted August 2, 2006 I had a G-310, vintage white. Not a bad guitar for the money. However, I'm an SG fanatic, andit didn't measure up to the gibsons.Seems to me that ALL EPI SG's are unbalancedand top-heavy, whereas the Gibsons are balanced.I currently own an SG Standard Natural Burst, andan SG faded (natural brown). I'd say do yourselfa favor and save up the money for a Gibson, at least for a faded if you can find a good one,it's worth it. The Song Remains The Same
