Howdy yall, Ol'boy here. Ive been meaning to get some audio files up on the board from my jamshack, The .13's, and just a good judgement of my skillity of playing level in general. I DONT have any sort of interface, Like the riff tracker and what not, Nor do i have a special cards. I have your standered computer Mic'In input. HOWEVER i do have a recorder, that i have hosted live music in chat rooms with. ( Guitar-amp-recorder-computer ) Im thinking the same thing would work, But how do i turn the soundfiles into the Audio files i can post up on the board? Please help, Thanks a bunch

I record onto my 4 track (I can bounce up to 7 tracks on it) then mix it onto my PC using the line out/line in.

I can use my multi-FX pedal as a front end before the 4 track, or my Genesis unit, which works quite well.

I also have a couple of 19" rack units I could use, but sometimes it more trouble to set them up.

I don't quite understand where you are in the recording process... are your soundfiles on tape or are they on your computers hard disk?

The bottom line is that you need to somehow convert whatever you've recorded into a MP3 file or maybe a WMA file. Once your soundfile has been "digitized" then you will need to upload it to the web and then create a Forum posting containing the link to where you've uploaded it.

Some folks have ISPs that give them some web space to upload files to otherwise you can sign up with some "free" hosting sites that will give you space as well.

LOL.. if you use Audacity.. all you do is..

Open the program...

drag the file onto it...

File...

Export as Mp3..

set your tags.. and your done =) ready to upload to soundclick. easy as pie :)

you can also use it to record from the 8track..

run it into your line-in on the comp.

set your recording device in Audacity to Line-in

adjust level if need be..

hit play on the 8 track and record on Audacity.

Once done. clean up any dead air at beginning/end.

Then, File.. export as mp3.. yadda yadda. all done :D

The cable is brand new, Been tested too. Gold plated sterio cable, 1/4. All of the recording propertys are up, Even the output of the recorder is up. Ive got it running out of the " Head phone " Output. The sound recorder is indeed set to run from " Line input " and its not a bad input. Just a week ago i was hosting live music through yahoo and it worked perfect.

I would recka-highly-mend that you do, in-fact, use the line input on your computer instead of the microphone input. The cheapo mic preamp on a regular computer can add a lot of nasties to your sound.
