Fumblyfingers Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 Is anyone using, heard , or know of someone using the Graph Tech Ghost Modular Hexpander setup on a MIDI guitar? This is with the Ghost Piezo saddles. Also particularly with a Yamaha G50 Guitar to MIDI Converter. I am interested in gettin this setup to replace my G1-D Yamaha MIDI pickup. How about Sibelius 4....anyone using...comments? Ta.
Guitarzan Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 something tell me that the ghost system is used in the Freeway SA from Godin. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
AeroG33k Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 nope, i'm pretty sure Godin doesn't use the ghost system. I'm pretty sure Brian Moore does on the iGuitar, though, and those are high-end pieces made specifically for midi. Read great reviews of it too. If anyone has any experience with it, I'm curious how true the acoustic sound is with or without the acoustiphonic (sp?) preamp they have. Does that pre-amp "model" an acoustic sound or does it just enhance the tone of the piezo like a regular preamp? My dream is to have a hollow or semi-hollow guitar, similar to the CSH-1, with a single low output (Duncan SH-2?) humbucker in the neck position with a Series/Single/Parallel switch and the ghost system in the bridge, so I can blend a mellow 'magnetic' sound with a crisp piezo sound for great clean tone. I was thinking about doing in on a semi-hollow body guitar, but since I don't have a steel stringed acoustic one, and was recently impressed with the acoustic tone of hollowbody guitars, I thought about modifying this to the set-up described above. Would the ghost acoustiphonic system sound better on a hollow-bodied instrument? Is a hollowbody electric a good substitute for an Acoustic/Electric guitar, like an Alvarez (my original choice)? -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)
Guitarzan Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 check it out Godin has been doing Synth for a long time. the Freeway SA is thier first guitar to use the Ghost system. the Brian Moore i series are imports with the 13 pin RMC system. it is actually the American made Brian Moores that are the high end models. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
AeroG33k Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 My bad about the Godin, i remember reading that they had a system sort of "custom made" for them. So, there's some Moore's at least that use the Ghost system though right? Or did I completely lose my mind? BEcause I thought the hexpander has a 13-pin port as well, if you desire to use this as an output. -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)
Guitarzan Posted July 26, 2006 Posted July 26, 2006 the LGX models from Godin use the custom RMC system. the Freeway SA is relatively new. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
Fumblyfingers Posted July 27, 2006 Author Posted July 27, 2006 I'm telling you I want to get this setup. The only thing is that it supposedly does not work well with the Yamaha G50 as it does not have a adjustment for Piezo style pickups....although I see something about the Hexpander now having Traktion which is supposed to offer this ability. That is why I am curious to see if anyone else has seen it work recently. I just don't have the bucks for an Axon converter right now.
