Durockrolly Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I recently went into a local music store to play some AmSe Strats. After trying a dozen or so guitars, I start playing some MIM Strats. The third or fourth one I try feels and sounds real good. The salesman tells me he has one in the box. I ask him to bring it out and it too plays and sounds awesome. I make him an offer and he says he can't do it. I walk out and he comes and finds me and my wife a couple of stores down and says his manager said OK. I end up paying $278.00+ tax. It totals up to $299.55 It's an '05 MIM Sage Green Metalic. http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m231/Durockrolly/NewStrattoo.jpg Fernando If you can't say it in 12 bars... then it can't be said!

Tedster Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I have one almost exactly like that. Except the finish (which looks basically the same) they used to call "Inca Silver". Mine was a US...(but I have a MIM Jazz Bass that I absolutely love). My silver Strat is now in the possession of my daughter in L.A. I kinda miss it...it had a different sound than my other Strat. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
Ol Boy Rivers Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 OH! Oops. Allright, Lemme delete what i said, But the same basic point aplys. I once had a Mexican telecaster standered from the Tequila state, And it played and sounded just as good as an American made Tele. ( NOTE THATS NOT THE AMERICAN SERIES, JUST THE NATION MAKE ) Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
skipclone 1 Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Wow, great deal! MIJ strats go for two or three times that much-in Japan. Same old surprises, brand new cliches- Skipsounds on Soundclick: www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandid=602491
Darcy H Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Beautiful. I've read most of the parts are the same as the MIA stuff anyway, but are assembled in Mexico. That baby is ALL Strat! Jimmy Vaughn swears by the MIM Strats, I think he even gave a free concert for the employees. I prefer the vintage tremolo and one less fret when compared to the MIA Standards as well. Sweet combo with the amp. I wanted one of those but ended up with a Blues Junior...kind of regretting not going for the extra wattage. www.myspace.com/darcyhoover
Durockrolly Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 I was able to get a great deal because the Sage Green Metalic is a discontinued color, plus it was an '05. I have had Strats befor but there is something about this one, the feel, the tone, I just can't explain. Fernando If you can't say it in 12 bars... then it can't be said!
Bluesape Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
