MILLO Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Wow, that was pretty intense. Gee, some of these moves seem to be like the guy is trying to poop while dancing, pretty incredible. I love his vocal solo. And how about that guy funkin' it out w/ a low-hanging classical guitar? And how about his intro w/ the electric guitar, pretty realistic performance, huh? However, I think I've fallen in love w/ the girl in the yellow dress. If it were a contemporary movie, I think I'd pack up my stuff and go off to India (or wherever this thing is from) and seek her out. MILLO Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 I guess Mike Myers (is this the guy's name?) took some of this character for his Austin Powers character--for some reason I think this most be out of some sort of action/comedy movie. This is just plain hilarious... I mean, I don't think they were being serious... "Without music, life would be a mistake." --from 'Beyond Good and Evil', by Friedrich Nietzsche My MySpace Space
Tone Taster Posted July 24, 2006 Posted July 24, 2006 Replies to the above posts regarding my comment: The video is obviously Spanish. To dispell any notion of cultural barriers, I was saying to the effect that, I bet Spanish people would even think that sucks

To dispell any notion of cultural barriers, I was saying to the effect that, I bet Spanish people would even think that sucks That's what I thought you meant (before I saw it), except for the fact that the video is Indian or from around there (not 100% sure it's from Bombay or Mumbay or whatever it's called nowadays)... that's what threw me totally off. I thought everyone knew what the Bollywood industry was. Spaniards like Pedro Almodóvar and Carlos Saura made some whacky shit in the early 80's, but not this type of whacky. More like Charlie Kaufman-meets-Seinfeld-meets-Wes Anderson-meets-Luis Buñuel-meets-Jean-Luc Goddard type of whacky. Or some downright f-up stuff that's sort of funny but whose humor is so dark you don't know if you wanna smile or drink yourself silly to forget, like some Alex de la Iglesia's films (some are downright terrible). The language is obviously not Spanish, or even a Romance language, or even a European language (as far as I could understand, which was nothing). When you say "Spanish", it means "from Spain", not from "anywhere in the Hispanic world". Low-budget Latin-American or Spanish films can be pretty bad and wacky, just like B-movies in the US (especially commercial Mexican cinema), but this whacky? Nope. I mean, you can find pretty Surreal types of sense of humor throughout Spanish and Latin-American cinema, but this something else! LOL! Gee, this is so good I had to e-mail to some friends! Thanks, Aero-Geek, had a great time watching it! "Without music, life would be a mistake." --from 'Beyond Good and Evil', by Friedrich Nietzsche My MySpace Space
