Bluesape Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 In the local L&M store there's this satin black V, light as a feather, fretboard looks to be a phenolic resin or similar synthetic composite. Didn't get to plg it in, but it seems not to be wood. The clerk wasn't up on it, knew essentially nothing, and suggested I check the website, which was even less helpful. This thing looks and plays great. I wouldn't be long getting the Epiphone truss rod nut cover off it, along with the made in Korea(?) sticker. Anybody got better info on these? Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!

Lightningdan Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 I've heard horror stories that some of the cheaper Epi's are actually made of laminate. Scary. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v157/sixtoedkitty/Miaroxsig.gif I've got my ship, and all her flags are flying. She's all the I've got left, and MUSIC is her name!!

Guitarzan Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 the only epi's that are laminate would be ultra cheap bolt on jobs. all the set neck epi's are solid wood. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
Bluesape Posted July 22, 2006 Author Posted July 22, 2006 Well - I plugged it in, along with 2 PRS SE's, one with a P90, and of course, gave the Freeway another listen. The Freeway Classic is hands down the best sounding and playing to my taste. The V looks trick, in a muted gothic sense, but it's muddy and slightly neck heavy. The SE's are nice, but both lack the shimmer of the Godin. The T5, at 5X the price, can stay unplugged for now. If I didn't already have a V, I'd look long and hard at this one, though - it's a nice guitar. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Guitarzan Posted July 23, 2006 Posted July 23, 2006 Reif is bitten by the freeway. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
