fantasticsound Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 All the talk of tube amps and several avatars of vintage amps in the "Which amp?" thread sent me to Ebay in search of some bargains. I looked up vintage Gibson GA amps and found this GA-6 auction . The seller was such a jerk to two people who posted comments clarifying what he has and a misleading bit of information in the auction I almost sent a comment that he should stop harping on people trying to help and just say, "Thank you." I thought better of that and returned to the search results. The next item is listed GA-6 GIBSON Rare Antique Krups Coffee Maker!!! and sports the same opening bid, buy-it-now price and shipping as the GA-6 auction above it. I entered and it's absolutely hilarious, especially the comments below. (Mine is the 9th comment, I believe.) Check both out for a good laugh! It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Guitar Geezer Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 That's a little too $$$$ for my budget, but a Gibson Coffeemaker would be a definite conversation piece Lynn G

fantasticsound Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 Yep, Red, that's the one that put me over the top! After writing my comment, though, I realized it was useless to argue with him and anyone with half a brain could see the first two comments were correct, put that together with the seller's attitude and price and pass the auction by. BTW - I searched completed auctions and came up with his first attempt to sell this amp. He put a buy-it-now price of $640 with no ability to bid less and came up with no takers. Not surprising. Another GA-6 (though a different color cabinet) sold recently for around $400. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
BriBaby Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 HAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! What a hoot! Thanks for the laugh. Once I thought I saw you, in a crowded, hazy, bar........
mdrs Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Fantas....That's hilarious! I couldn't help myself, I had to add a "question" on that "Krups Classic". Don Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. henrysb3 Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Not to get too on topic, but do two 6v6's indeed put out twelve watts? I have an old hifi mono amp made by Pilot with two 6v6's, and (I think) the 5y something rectifier tube mentioned in the responses. I thought of trying to revive it as a guitar amp. It's from the fifties and point to point wired. It's too late now, but all that coffee talk has me jonesing for a cup. Oh well, I'll just have to wait till early tomorrow as I'm hitting the road for W. Kansas to meet my friend, then on to Texas Saturday. He not busy being born Is busy dyin'. ...Bob Dylan

LeftyBlues Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 Good one, Fan! Ironically, I just started a pot of fresh brew here at work. Sadly our machine is not tube type, it's a solid state unit with no built in effects!!! Now here's what totally blows...I accidentily clicked the "buy it now" button! Uh-oh! Anybody wanna buy a nice coffee maker? I was born at night but I wasn't born last night...
