picker Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Hey, why hasn't Fender done a replica of Clapton's original Blackie strat? It seems like a natural thing, given what they did with SRV's Number one? Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Guitarzan Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 they have a Nile Rogers model coming out soon. i am willing to bet there will be a Blackie eventually. i bet those repo's are pricey. http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemusic.cfm?bandID=193274 rock it, i will
Ol Boy Rivers Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Howdy yall, Ol'boy here. Yhe SRV strat is actually a production stratocaster. All it is, is the inverted tremolo and some fancy hardware. ( The SRV's before 1995 were the ACTUAL SRV design. ) BUT all the blackie was, was an old standerd strat ( i think ) Which happened to be sold for...Hoodles of money at the famos CrossRoads Festival. HOWEVER they do have strats like the " MaryKate " and " Worn to the wood " That are CUSTOM SHOP products. Limited adition and all of that. ( THEY DO have a Eric clapton strat with his Signiture onBoard EQ and Noisless pickups, But it isnt a Blackie, Just a nice strat on a 9 volt Steriod. ) Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
The Geoff Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Golly!! Thanks for that!! Geoff "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the World will know Peace": Jimi Hendrix http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=738517&content=music The Geoff - blame Caevan!!!
Ol Boy Rivers Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 No problem. If you want to know everything fender is doin' jut stop by the local guitarcenter and pick up the 2006 Frontline mag'. Theyve got alllll of their new guitars/models/amp/ etc etc. BUT Hey, here a thing. If your looking for that " Clapton " Tone swing by www.guitarfetish.com and look for the " Active EQ's ". If your looking for the true " SRV " FEEL as well as tone, Look for any SRV strat that is KNOWN to be made before 1995. ( If your not willing to drop about 4'000 or so...you might be SOL on that one ) OR you can stop by warmoth. you might not get his exact finish or exact Spec' woods but you can get the Pau Ferrao fingerboard and th SRV neck profile, AS WELL as the pickups, and the Inverted Strat Trem. Hope this helps, Good to know im doing something right on here. =oB Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
The Geoff Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Right. "When the power of love overcomes the love of power the World will know Peace": Jimi Hendrix http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default.cfm?bandID=738517&content=music The Geoff - blame Caevan!!!
picker Posted July 22, 2006 Author Posted July 22, 2006 Last year, Fender came out with a limited number of replicas of SRV's Number One, exact copies right down to the scratches and wood being worn away above the pickguard. They sold for somewhere over $10K. They did the same thing with Jaco Pastorius' Jazz Basses, both with and without frets(although I don't they were limited editions), and I think they have done a few other famous Fenders too. I'm not talking about the signature models, I am talking about exact replicas. I know Blackie was a "mongrel" made out of several different guitars, but the custom shop could easily make replicas of the parts. Maybe because it was sold, the new owner won't let them replicate it. Who knows? But I bet Fender would love to do it. They made a killing on the SRV replicas. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Chad Thorne Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 "Last year, Fender came out with a limited number of replicas of SRV's Number One, exact copies right down to the scratches and wood being worn away above the pickguard. Ol Boy Rivers Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Hmm...I didnt nkow fender did that picker. I thout it was just some Wear-down artist that had a crush on Stevie ray vaughan. Personally im not really much on Exact Reps'. I like to wear my stuff down on my own. BUuuuuut if thats what your looking for, Look on Ebay. Ive seen a few of those Exact reps' and they are around...7000? If not just buy yourself the custom sticker and do your own " Wearing ". =D Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.

But I hope I'll never be ate up enought to pay $7000 or more for a guitar. I was just curious if or when Fender was gonna do the same thing with Blackie that they did with Number One. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Ol Boy Rivers Posted July 22, 2006 Posted July 22, 2006 Call fender and ask them man. Or even better, Get onto Fender online and dig into their forum and ask around. Hell, Look at what fender has done with hald of its stuff. Only god knows whats next! Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
