An emulator is program on the computer that lets you play old games.

They have emulators for most of the old systems. Atari, NES, SNES, Sega, N64, Play Station etc.

Once you have the program installed for the system you want (you can download them for free), you buy the "Roms" (That's what they call the games). They're fairly cheap.

Most of those emulators are open-source, Big Red. There may be ports of them already to the Mac. A lot of the open-source projects (especially those on Source Forge) have multiple versions of their code and usually have a branch for the Mac.

Which processor type do you use? PowerPC or Intel? Most of ours are PowerPC although we have bought a 2Ghz Intel iMac recently. All the rest of the Macs are G5s.

Were you alive when NES came out, Brett? :D

I was born when it first came out, which was 1985. They stopped production on games, etc. in 1995.

Shut up and play.

1985? That's the year I started Highschool.

Man, I remember when we first got our Pong game. It was so cool that you could control something on your TV screen. And don't get me started on the Pacman craze. I love those old games. They remind me of my youth and all of the lost money and time spent in arcades and on game machines.

Nice avatar GZ!

I actually had a dream about Super Mario 3 last night. The first guy killed me, then I woke up.

What a horrible night to have a curse.

How do you guys get time for this? I must be managing my time poorly. By the time I get done with work, family, household chores, guitar practice, I'm done. Toast. It's bedtime and back at it the next day. I take a little time for email and a couple forums usually in the morning. But game time? Wow.

Wow, you've had that iBook for a while, Big Red. Are you still running OS 9? That's a G3 right?

One thing about Mac owners. Typically they don't buy new machines every year or two. They use their machines until they just crumble to dust. As long as it works, they'll keep using it.
