A String Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Which System did you play it on? You can buy little home versions of the originals and some of the games you can buy for the modern systems and PCs. You can even get emulators that let you play all the original Atari and SNES games on your PC. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music
Backnblack Posted July 19, 2006 Author Posted July 19, 2006 tell me more about emulators. Brett, sonofazan 1
A String Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 An emulator is program on the computer that lets you play old games. They have emulators for most of the old systems. Atari, NES, SNES, Sega, N64, Play Station etc. Once you have the program installed for the system you want (you can download them for free), you buy the "Roms" (That's what they call the games). They're fairly cheap. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music

There may be ports of them already to the Mac. A lot of the open-source projects (especially those on Source Forge) have multiple versions of their code and usually have a branch for the Mac. Which processor type do you use? PowerPC or Intel? Most of ours are PowerPC although we have bought a 2Ghz Intel iMac recently. All the rest of the Macs are G5s. Born on the Bayou

revolead Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Were you alive when NES came out, Brett? I was born when it first came out, which was 1985. They stopped production on games, etc. in 1995. Shut up and play.
Big Red 67 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Now I feel dumb. Downloaded the N64 emulator. Can't find games for it! Big Red's Ride Blog
A String Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 1985? That's the year I started Highschool. Man, I remember when we first got our Pong game. It was so cool that you could control something on your TV screen. And don't get me started on the Pacman craze. I love those old games. They remind me of my youth and all of the lost money and time spent in arcades and on game machines. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music

Squ Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 http://zophar.net/ is the best place for emulators. They do have them for Mac and for NES and SNES they work perfectly. If you want roms you can ask google or pm me... (I don't know where at N64 roms are though) And BacknBlack, you can actually get an NES emulator on your GBA, using http://www.pocketnes.org/ Red Red Rockit

By the time I get done with work, family, household chores, guitar practice, I'm done. Toast. It's bedtime and back at it the next day. I take a little time for email and a couple forums usually in the morning. But game time? Wow. bbach Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder.

Wow, you've had that iBook for a while, Big Red. Are you still running OS 9? That's a G3 right? One thing about Mac owners. Typically they don't buy new machines every year or two. They use their machines until they just crumble to dust. As long as it works, they'll keep using it. Born on the Bayou
