Gabriel E. Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I just ordered a GFI pedal steel (keyless single neck 10-string) and a Fender Steel King amp. Need a good delay to use with it. Here are my criteria: -Not too hi-fi (I have an old Ibanez digital delay that sounds too sterile). Going for analog-style sound. -At least 1 second of delay time. -TRUE BYPASS SWITCHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -Tap tempo a plus. -Less than $200. Don't need anything fancy like midi sync, reverse delay, etc. Anyone have any recommendations? "You never can vouch for your own consciousness." - Norman Mailer

picker Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I think the Digitech DigiDelay is pretty neat sounding, I doubt it's true bypas, though. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
revolead Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I love my Visual Sound H20, and check the website on this, but I think it does up to 1500 ms. It also makes a great chorus, and it's only 150 bucks (last time I checked anyway). Shut up and play.
Hairfarmer Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Gabe...have you tried the BOSS DD-20 GIGA Delay (about $180)? It's got the Analog, a Tape sim, Tap Tempo,...yada, yada, yada. No midi or reverse delay. Not true bypass either, but, it does have seamless switching, which is close. I opted to leave my delay control in the hands of my soundman at the rack, so I don't have a delay pedal at my feet, but, I played through several 3 months ago, and this was without doubt the best sounding, and, most versatile of the non-boutique's that I played through. That being said, I'm not aware of a true-bypass delay pedal that you can get into for under $200. That doesn't mean that they don't exist, I'm just not aware of any. But, let me know if you find one, I'll give it a try too. Kerry
Big Red 67 Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 I really like my line6. i might not be a tone guru but, great analog sounds. I get a really good soak out of the tube delay. Really good. It sounds like feedback even when the amp is in the other room! Big Red's Ride Blog
MILLO Posted July 21, 2006 Posted July 21, 2006 I have a SIB Mr. Echo, I like it but to be honest I don't know anything about delays or how to use them! HAHAHA! I'd love to have a tap tempo feature. This one has it: http://www.dlseffects.com/echotap.php but it's more than $200. Ouch. "Without music, life would be a mistake." --from 'Beyond Good and Evil', by Friedrich Nietzsche My MySpace Space
