Braxat Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Well, im down into a video project that is actually a sequel of videos on "sad" subjects" im using some of what i write for the presentations and pictures im getting off the web, now, the tricky thing is, i dont really know much good "sad" music, wondering if you guys could help me, i was looking for something on a slow tempo and preferably without lyrics though that does not matter much, also, the songs cant be that long because the lyrics or the project is not long ( about 5-6 mins per clip ) any ideaS? I Am But A Solution In Search Of A Problem.
A String Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 "Brother's in Arms" by Dire Straits. It has an ominous sound to it, although there are lyrics. The start of it has some really great "sad" mood music. I've used it in video before. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music
Dr. Ellwood Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 There are some good tracks off the old series called "Victory at Sea" if you can get your hads on them. They are full orchestra pieces and where a soundtrack for the whole series. http://www.thestringnetwork.com

AeroG33k Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Philip Glass' Koyaanisqatsi soundtrack has many dark and eerie parts to it, specific tracks are "Prophecies" (this composition gives me goose bumps, especially at the conclusion of the movie koyaanisqatsi, which is excellent. It has a plot using entirely photography.) Others from the same soundtrack are "Organic" and "Pruit Igore", which gets a bit more lively and violent in the middle, which can be a good effect for what you're doing. It's a great dramatic album all in all. Other than that, definitely check out "Ruska" by apocalytica from their self-titled "Apocalyptica" album. They're a heavy metal (mostly instrumental) band using electric cello's! Ruska however, is less metal and more slow, classical sad melodic stuff. Very dark. Others that by them that may qualify are "Romance" and "Beyond time" from their album "Cult". If you can tolerate vocals, "Mad World" is a classic, I have a nice cover by the "Wise Guys", a german acapella band, that makes you cry. -Andy "I know we all can't stay here forever so I want to write my words on the face of today...and they'll paint it" -Shannon Hoon (Blind Melon)

LPCustom Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Pink Floyd is a good source for some pretty "haunting" music clips. The intro to the song "Sorrow" is a pretty good one for a somber piece. The "Wish You Were Here" and "Animals" albums have some pretty good songs to clip up, too. "Dark Side Of The Moon" also has some good pieces you can clip from. Born on the Bayou
Braxat Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 Ok, i narrowed down to this : your thoughts? I Am But A Solution In Search Of A Problem.

The Big G Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Braxat No probs mate it just stikes me as somewhere I have photographed in the past so Notre Dame is a possible one but I feel it may be somewhere else. It stopped me in my tracks whilst watching the clip, but good stuff keep at it. picker Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 If you can use country music, try George Jones' "These Days I Barely Get By". If you don't want ot go oout back and slit your throat after hearing it, you have the sensitivity of an armadillo. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
alfonso Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 My CD (check my signature) seems exactly what you need. Guess the Amp .... now it's finished... Here it is!
Xplorer Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Inquisition Symphony by Apocalyptica Apocalyptica do alot of cover tunes of metal on chellos (sp?). This particular song is an instrumental by Sepultura, and it's quite dark/sad sounding with a little anger thrown in. What a horrible night to have a curse.
