I shy away from them for security & safety.

For one, if you happen to tick someone off on the road, they can more easily indentify you to the cops or for their own personal vengeance.

Also, I don't want some slimeball targeting my Wife if they see her get in and out of our vehicle. It can be more easily picked out in the neighborhood- showing where we live, on the road, or at the local store. Yeah, the slimeball can always follow her home, but it's a bit more difficult to find someone on the road at random if they don't have a personlized plate.

I simply think it's wise NOT to bring unwanted attention to yourself. That's why for the same reason I will not advertise our last name on or near our home. A burglar can easily look in the phone book for a "Mr & Mrs Jones" who lives on 1234 Smith St. then simply call and see if they are home. If not, then he knows the coast is clear to break in, if they are not screening calls! :D

I pay the extra fee to remain unlisted too- a hedge against them finding out our name by stealing our mail.

The point is to make it more difficult.

God Bless :)

Best and most honest one I saw was on the back of a new SAAB convertable being driven by a UGA sorority girl. It said THNX DAD

When the last of our three daughters moved out of the house my wife splurged on a sports car for herself. The license plate ... MTNEST

The best one I ever saw was at a Delorian convention here in mother Ireland,It read"when this baby hits 88 mph your gonna see some serious shit".It was in tiny writting above the actual numbers but I thought it was impressive.

P.S.Could anyone please tell me the picking riff and solo to Paitience, ive got the chords just cant work out the riff or solo.

I agree with just about everything you've said about personalized plates.

I have one more reason: they're just plain stupid.

I had one several years ago that was: EADGBE

I got so tired of explaining it to people that I didn't renew it after it expired. Once in a while someone would get it, but not very often. Now it is on the garage wall. These days I pretty much agree with the above statement.

Avoid playing the amplifier at a volume setting high enough to produce a distorted sound through the speaker-Fender Guitar Course-1966

I saw one that was a reference to the Seattle Mariners, SODOMJO. It was supposed to be read as "Sodo Mojo"

What id did read as was "Sodom Jo"

I was contemplating getting one for my '73 Barracuda: GO FISH :D

You could have gone with DADGAD and really baffled 'em.

If by the "above statement" you meant BiC's, I reluctantly agree, too. It took one visit to Harmony Central's Open Jam to convince me to change my moniker, as I'm too identifiable here.

That's hilarious! :D I would no doubt get tired of telling people that I have no idea what a Dad Gad is. :D My friends called me E Ad Ga Be (sounded each part out very literally) forever because of that tag.

My father used to have a couple of shrimp boats later in life. The tag on his truck was "SHRIMP".

People acted surprised when my dad got out of the truck and was 6'2", 220. I guess they thought it meant HE was the shrimp.

The problem with most plates is that since there are so few letter you usually have to explain what it means (or even what it says).

I had a tag made for my '76 Trans Am with a 455 SD that said "RARETA". There were only a couple of hundred made in 76 with 455s. And only a few had the "wrong" 455 (11, I think) which was the Pontiac 455 SD rather than the Buick 455. Mine had the Poncho 455. So it was a "Rare TA". But nobody got it. Nobody even knew what it spelled. So I never renewed it. Haven't had one or wanted on since.

True, I might at any given moment B selected 2 join the workworce that produces them, so far I've evaded that.
