Boggs Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 http://www.bernunzio.com/ I met with John earlier this past week and it was very favorable. He actually made the first move, so to speak, by inviting me to possibly sell out of there. He really appreciates the quality and uniqueness and the local tie as well. We will talk in a couple of weeks when I will be able to get a guitar or two and a couple of bodies over there. He just had a nice feature article done on him in the newspaper and one of the local morning shows is going to broadcast out of there this Wednesday morning. He says his site gets 170,000 hits a MONTH and is located across the street from the Eastman School of Music and in the heart of the Jazz Festival where he remained open until 2:00am and was busy throughout during the festival! I need to check in with Chuck (the model maker) and see if he got his CNC router in yet... This could be really good as he has my target market in his shop every day... While there, I also tried out a couple Eastman archtops and HOLY CRAP! They are amazingly responsive even purely acoustically!!! Yes, they are hand made in Bejing, but these really are sweet, high quality guitars for under $2000... VERY impressive! John would not touch them if they weren't... You guys should check his site out. Check out my Rock Beach Guitars page showing guitars I have built and repaired... http://www.rockbeachguitars.com
A String Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 There you go! I told you to go out and get rich and now you're doing it! I wish you all the best Boggs! You've worked very hard to get to where you are now. You deserve this. Craig Stringnetwork on Facebook String Network Forum My Music
Boggs Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 I'll never get rich on these, for sure. They cost too much to make and I can't sell them very high as I do not have a recognizable (or pronouncable) name. Thanks for the encouragement though! fantasticsound Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 So call 'em Boggs Guitars. Good for you. I suppose your last name is no more difficult than Epi Stathopoulo. Somehow he came up with a brand that incorporated his name. (Just in case it's a mystery who I'm speaking of.. Epiphone! ) It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd

Boggs Posted July 10, 2006 Author Posted July 10, 2006 Originally posted by mdrs: Boggs, Were you ever associated with American Acoustech Guitars?? Don No. Not associated with anybody, actually. I use Carvin pickups and they were very helpful, but they have made it clear that they will only build their own designs. I'm on my own... Hardtail Posted July 10, 2006 Posted July 10, 2006 Originally posted by musicalhair: Sounds good. That store looks like (from the web site anyway) like Mandolin Brothers in Staten Island. I never heard of the place and I'm in Staten Island all the time. I'll have to check it out next time I'm there.
mdrs Posted July 11, 2006 Posted July 11, 2006 HardTail, Oh man....you MUST visit Mando Bros...they are one of the premier vintage stores in the universe. First time I was there, I went to check out a Gibson Advanced Jumbo (new one, NOT and old one!!!). After I did my buisness, I asked the sales person to show me "one of the good ones". Well, the next thing you know I'm playing a 1942-ish Martin 000-28!! It looked like shit, but I hit an "E" chord, and it blew my mind. It's been 5 years, and I still can't get that guitar off my mind! Check Mando Bros out!! They have a ton of cool axes, new, but especially old stuff. Don Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy.
