Hound Dog Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 This is a favorite video of mine. Townshend really digs into his Les Paul, but I particularly like to watch Keith Moon. Who Are You Yum, Yum! Eat em up!
stamplicker Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Nice find.. and what les paul is that with the extra humbuckers in the middle? MagicStomp Soundbites Soundclick Rambles Haunted Art
Hound Dog Posted July 9, 2006 Author Posted July 9, 2006 I think he had it tricked out with some mini HB's and a few extra switches. Yum, Yum! Eat em up!
mdrs Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Pete used heavily modified LP Deluxes at that stage of his career. Check this out for a pretty good description of it; http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Gibson-Custom-Shop-Pete-Townshend-LP-Deluxe-Electric-Guitar?sku=517755 Don Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. mdrs Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 I think that video segment comes from the documentary on The Who, "The Kids Are Alright" Don Don "There once was a note, Pure and Easy. mdrs Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Sorry for the multiple posts, but if you have not seen that documentary, make a point of doing so. It's an amazing journey...... AlChuck Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Yup, it's in The Kids Are Alright, alright... a great documentary... lots of great footage...
picker Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 My favorite Who video is Eminence Front . I miss Keef, but I love What Pete does on the guitar and vocals. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
picker Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Then, there is always , which happened to be released just about the time my marriage was in trouble for much the same reason as Pete is saying his is in the song. In short, the song hit me right where I lived. Always loved this video. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
mdrs Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Picker, There are so many great Townshend songs....I especially love his lyrics. I've always felt his lyric abilities were under-recognized. Check out Pete's solo album "Empty Glass", for the song "A Little Is Enough". About the third verse is a metaphor about a sailor sailing into the sea....I've always loved that verse. superdave Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 No other band in the universe had a sound like The Who.
J.J. Blair Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 Pete's playing on the "Eminence Front" video really changed my thinking about the lead guitar, and was part of what really got me so into his playing. I just adore his phrasing. Friends don't let friends act like rockstars.
J.J. Blair Posted July 9, 2006 Posted July 9, 2006 BTW, here's my favorite incarnation of Pete: Heaven and Hell Friends don't let friends act like rockstars.
