Big Red 67 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Listening to this right now. Man this guy really sends me. Jim Croce. Up down and all around, what digs at your soul? Big Red's Ride Blog
The Geoff Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Jim Croce - there's a name from the past!! I really liked his work, but it seemed to completely disappear. Thanks for reminding me, Red. G. Bluesape Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Ray Charles gets to me every time. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Justus A. Picker Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 I always liked Croce and we used to do some of his stuff, including P&M, in the acoustic duo. The Layla version of "Have You Ever Loved A Woman" always lays me out. You can really feel the pain in that. http://www.smokedsalmonband.com/exile/exile1.jpg
webe123 Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Jim Croce, James Taylor and Gordon Lightfoot....Those three names were huge in the 70s. They also made some very well known accoustic guitar tunes.....they are my favorite among accoustic guitar artists. If someone has never heard some of the classics like Time in a bottle (Jim Croce) or Fire and rain (James Taylor) or Wreck of the edmund fitzgerald (Gordon lightfoot)....you need to go listen to them...great songs.

caprae Posted July 8, 2006 Posted July 8, 2006 Definately Croce. I remember watching him and his guitarist and being in awe at their playing. I'd heard plenty of rock but never heard acoustic played like that. Currently what gets me? There's a couple of Third Day tunes and the latest is Todd Agnew's "Grace Like Rain". Raise your children and spoil your grandchildren. Spoil your children and raise your grandchildren.
Big Red 67 Posted July 8, 2006 Author Posted July 8, 2006 Someone brought up Van Morrison and got me listening to "Hymns to the Silence". Man what a great album. Big Red's Ride Blog
