BiC Posted July 5, 2006 Posted July 5, 2006 My Wife & I went to see Journey & Def Leppard tonight. It was a good 'ole rock-n-roll show! Journey opened up and played all the popular classics you can think of. The singer, Steve Augeri, sounds very much like Steve Perry. I've heard that Steve Perry is very satisfied with him. Neal played a killer rendition of The Star Spangled Banner! Gosh, that guy can really rip it up on the guitar. Journey's keyboardist, Jonathan Cain, played some classical music which led into "Faithfully", and "Open Arms". The drummer, Deen Castronovo sang a couple tunes and sounded really good. I actually enjoyed Journey more than Def Leppard, although they both equally kicked butt! Def Leppard played all the popular classics you can think of too, besides "High-N-Dry". I'm sure there were others they couldn't fit in. But they really got in all the radio hits. Phil & Vivian kicked it on the guitar, and Rick played a killer bass solo that led into "Rocket". There weren't any drum solos, or much interaction with the audience between songs. Simply one song onto the next with a few words in between. That's about it, and the way I like it. Catch the tour if you can. You won't regret it! But Steve still kicked major butt and sounded so much like Perry. I can only imagine how great he sounds when he is feeling well.
