jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Since I deal with digital pictures all day I rarely take any. But when I do, they come out very funny, much to my embarrassment. Best one The Twins http://images1.snapfish.com/347478%3A53%7Ffp346%3Enu%3D3249%3E%3B3%3B%3E37%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32338843%3C%3B86%3Cnu0mrj The other twins http://images1.snapfish.com/347478%3A53%7Ffp33%3A%3Enu%3D3249%3E%3B3%3B%3E37%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32338843%3C%3B866nu0mrj Maybe it's my eyeballs. Ricardo. Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Those semi-hollows look very attractive to my G.A.S.-ing eyes
pollock Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Beautiful guitars! "Maybe it's my eyeballs." Nope. my band: http://www.blujavu.com www.myspace.com/blujavu
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Each orange beast was a major GAS attack requiring large sacrifice. The old one I got in trade for a '62 SG I'd had since 69. The newer one cost me quite a few vintage pedals. Thanks for digging them, Jim

jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 The double-cut is a 71-72. About the last of it's original type.

Abnorm Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Jimash, I own a Gibson like the one on the right in the top photo. I've always wondered what model it was. Do you know? What is it? Thanks.
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 Oh, That is a Gibson Les PAul '55 . Some of them have one peice bridge/tailpeices. Some have gold lettering on the back of the headstock, saying "Les PAul 55/78" ( especially the 78's)_ They usually have a tan case that is wearing badly. Mine has none of these features (except the really bad case) and has the wrong type of serial number for this guitar. In this particularly eerie pic you can see the plastic circles under the bridge where it was apparently drilled for an old style and then factory filled and covered up. They are glued on. http://images1.snapfish.com/34748364%3B%7Ffp346%3Enu%3D3249%3E%3B3%3B%3E37%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D32338843%3C%3B873nu0mrj It's some kind of second or prototype. It picked me up in a bar. Jim
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 I have to say: I didn't want that Gibson.. It sounds deadly. The body is one peice, the neck a fairly typical mid-seventies three peice with a dainty volute. You can see the big 70's bridge that must have been an afterthought, It has a feel like an old guy who really knew , did the fretboard and scrounged up old P90's from somewhere. It's also extremely heavy. Jim
Caevan O'Shite Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 By, "It sounds deadly", do you mean b!tch!n'-deadly-baaad@$$-in-a-good-way, or just "dead"? Ask yourself- What Would Ren and Stimpy Do? ~ Caevan James-Michael Miller-O'Shite ~ _ ___ _ Leprechaun, Esquire _ ___ _
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 b!tch!n'-deadly sorry. The front pickup gives me superhero powers.
fantasticsound Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Jim, if you're using a digital snapshot camera it's definitely the... magical vibe off your guitars! I don't want to wreck your vision of guitar mojo, but the reality is, if it is a digital snapshot and you're not using the flash, it's too dark in the room to take that shot without the aforementioned tripod. I was thoroughly pissed off when my digital camera arrived because only then did I discover it had no manual control. I took a bunch of similar pics because I didn't want to flash the subject. It's turned out ok, but I really need a digital SLR. The snapshot drives me nuts in situations like that. Here are a few examples that still look good: This is the shot that told me I was SOL for sharp shots sans flash indoors: http://members.aol.com/neilbergmn/family/lilly2avatar.jpg Another from the same experiment: http://members.aol.com/neilbergmn/family/lillyavatar.jpg This was a shot I had to take many times before getting a keeper. It was in the dark with a single par16 with an orange gel shooting up to my then 4 year old's face. Flash would've ruined everything. http://members.aol.com/neilbergmn/family/lilly.gif It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 A tripod is definitely in order. It's my wife's mid-line Sony, which I guess I have to bone up on. I think I do alright with my video camera tho' I just did these in like 30 seconds w/ lamp light. http://www1.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=45316453/PictureID=1357933107/a=17909149_17909149/t_=17909149 http://www1.snapfish.com/slideshow/AlbumID=45316453/PictureID=1357933108/a=17909149_17909149/t_=17909149 http://images1.snapfish.com/3474853%3B3%7Ffp342%3Enu%3D3249%3E%3B3%3B%3E37%3B%3EWSNRCG%3D323388%3A69274%3Cnu0mrj 's weird. I'll have to read the book . RTFM!

mdrs Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 The last time I was "in the presence" of Twins, I was shakin as well........... It must be that magic mojo motion..... fantasticsound Posted June 29, 2006 Posted June 29, 2006 Nice p'up pic of the Gibby! Yep, you've a long exposure. You can get good still life shots with the tripod, but forget about movement without the flash, except outdoors. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
jimash Posted June 29, 2006 Author Posted June 29, 2006 I think tripod flash and fill lighting too. What does the 200-400 etc. setting do in a digital camera anyway? Thanks Neil Jim
