Johnny1982 Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 Sorry, if this is a dumb question, but this is not really my area... tomorrow I'll have the chance of playing around a bit with an EMG-81, but since I only want to test it for a while to see if it fits my needs, I would like to know if it's ok to attach it directly to the jack bypassing tone and volume controls(including battery connections, of course, since it's an active pickup). Thanks in advance.
The Geoff Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I suppose you could do that, but even if you don't want to use the tone control (and I don't) you'll not get the nuances of tone when you roll the volume back just that little bit. Trucks Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I think you may need to attach the battery to an active pickup for it to work.... But im not 100% on that, i have never had an active pup but friends that have, have had their guitars cut out mid gig as the battery went dead (and they hadnt even realsied it had a battery in it ) Soundclick Myspace
Bluesape Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 The Energizer in my ESP had to have lasted 15 years. Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Trucks Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 15 yrs thats pretty good goin! So the energizer bunny DOES last longer Soundclick Myspace
Gabriel E. Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 No. They have a built-in preamp. No battery - no power and no sound. "You never can vouch for your own consciousness." - Norman Mailer
