Ol Boy Rivers Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Howdy yall, Ol'boy here. I just got back from a music store to at where i belive a " Peavy heritage " Is for sell. I did my research...Solidstate preamp section with a tuibe driven power section. Low and High power ( 115 to 50 watts i belive ) And enough knobs to drive a man to drink. Now...fifty dollors was the price tag but there is a reason. Speakers a gone, The cabinet the amp is housed in is pretty messed up, and the footswtich isnt there. ( For those who dont know, Peavy cant make footswitched for the older amps anymore, So its sorta pointless to buy a threechannle amp to only play on one channle )Now...This amp sounds pretty good as i ran it through an old 212 marshall cabby at the store. ( It has a EXT cabinet out ) Pretty good distortion, Your standerd real tight and punchy solidstate sound BUT it didnt loose its cool when i cranked on that knob, And i rattled the store by the time i clicked into full power on low watts. Aparently Lynerd Skynerd uses these amps, SO they cant be too shabby. Now for the powersection, 4 KT66 tubes ( I THINK, Dont hold me to it ) and two EXT outs, One speaker out for the internals. SO! Someone tell me if this thing is worth 50 bucks, Plus around...170 to replace those 12inch scorpion speakers, And then some money to probally redo the cabinet. ( Its pretty banged up yall, Cracked, Stomped and lost to the winds ) 'Priciate it yall, Thanks! Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
fantasticsound Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 You can probably do better, for the money, but there are those who swear by Peavey Heritage amps. BTW - Even if Peavey doesn't make an appropriate footswitch doesn't mean you can't. To my knowledge this wasn't a case of a micro-processor controlled footswitch and I'm quite sure Peavey will give or sell you the schematic if they don't provide them anymore. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
picker Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 For $50, why not if you like the sound of it? Pull the chassis out of the old cab and put it in one that makes it just a head, then push whatever cab you want to. Look around for an old peavey fottswitch or make one. You'll wanna get the filter caps looked at and maybe replaced. But who knows? It could work out for you nicely. Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
Bluesape Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Good find! Never a DUH! moment! Well, almost never. OK, OK! Sometimes never!
Ol Boy Rivers Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 Allright yall, I appriciate it. Yeah Fantastic i the guy told me i could just wire my own A/B/C switch and not have to worrie much about it. I know for a fact my uncle has a friend who is really good with that stuff SO! i guess after i get this Epi Valvejunior ill get the peavy for a heavy rock or livesound amp. Thanks once again Yall! Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
Gifthorse Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Not a bad price. How much are you willing to spend? Another cool amp if you can find one is the Peavey Bravo. A newer amp that was out in like 91-94 or something, it was after Peavey's quality went up a little. One of the coolest little combos I have heard for the money complete with the Rockmaster preamp. It sounds great micd too. 3 Channels all footswitchable. Personally the era of amp that you are talking about is not a good time for Peavey. I don't like em, but that doesn't mean you won't. Another amp that is probably cheap used was the Peavey Triumph. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse
Ol Boy Rivers Posted June 19, 2006 Author Posted June 19, 2006 To be honest im trying to get away with the greatest deal with the least amount of money. Poor redneck folk like me cant usually drop hundreds of dollors for a good amp or guitar ( Note that i play a 200 dollor stagg and amps that where given to me ) BUT because this peavy is enough amp to gig with as well as a good amp...Around 250 or so. But after that my wallet starts to crack. Trust me, Im having to save up a while just to get the Epiphone VJ. My jobs are small, Im not the oldest bloke. But its life...But yeah, Everyone ive talked to on other forums as well as a few guitar shop say the amp is worth the price id have to spend if i bought it. But...when i think about it its allmost too much power. So im stuck between delimas and what not. Anywho, Thanks Miles', Ill look into those amps after i get everything im searching for at the moment and see whats going on! Never trouble trouble till' trouble troubles you.
