Ok all you wonderful Canuks, you just gotta step up on this one. Since I live a darn site closer to Edmonton than the Carolinas, I'm joining the ranks of the Canadian hockey boosters.

Go Edmonton! :thu:

Carolinian here...

My feeling is this has all happened so fast we just don't really know what to make of it. I'm not a regular NHL viewer, but I saw the last two games and the Oilers obviously had Carolina's number. I came away wondering how Carolina had won 3 games. Tonight should be great with both teams going for all.

Yum, Yum! Eat em up!

I've found a little time to watch some of the games; overall, some great hockey is being played. I felt bad for Edmonton, with the great tradition, being whipped by those "upstarts" from Carolina. However, Carolina got to the playoffs for a reason. Glad to see Edmonton regain composure and come back to force games 6 & 7. I don't care who wins, as long as they earn it. Which, it seems, either team can say that they have done so.

Edmonton: traditional power, proving why they are that.

Carolina: new guys on the block showing you can't write them off.

One year, the Caps will regain their ability to contend.

Go, Oilers, go! Edmonton completely outworked what appeared to be a tired Carolina team the other night, and it was great. I don't want to see the Hurricanes win the Cup because:

- Any fans that can't sell out a playoff game don't deserve the Cup.

- I resent the ridiculous amount of luck that Carolina has had. Key players for the opposition go down with injuries in every one of their series (have you ever seen a team lose four out of five starting defensemen and their leading scorer like Buffalo did?); flukey goals galore; and penalties, real or not, given to the opposition at the key moment of each series (each time Carolina scored the series-winning goal, it was on a power play).

- Carolina and Laviolette have done a lot of whining throughout the playoffs. One of the things I loved about the Sabres this year was that they didn't use the injuries as an excuse; they just came out and battled to the end.

I always love the underdog, and Edmonton has been the underdog for the enitre playoffs. Even though they beat the Sharks, I'm rooting for them.

Go Oilers!

GO EDMONTON!!!!

I am a HUGE Ryan Smyth fan. I think he is one of the best players in the NHL. Not because he is flashy or scores tons, because he is a winner.

He represents to me a playoff performer. A gritty player that NEVER gives up and scores big goals.

I remember when Edmonton came back against Dallas in 97' or 98'. It was in the first round. Dallas was up like 5-1 or 5-2 or something in the 3rd period with like 2 minutes left or something crazy like that. And Edmonton came back tied it up and WON in overtime. I think they were down 3-1 in the series too and came back and won it. That was some inspirational hockey. They ended up losing to Colorado in the next round I think.

I say Edmonton is going to own Carolina. Bring the cup back to Canada!!!

Big G, I can't express how sorry I am to hear that hockey, the greatest sport ever invented, the perfect synthesis of skill, speed, artistry, fluid motion, and sheer determined force, is not taken very seriously over there; the UK truly doesn't know what it is missing.

Oh well, if it makes you feel any better, cricket doesn't even register as a blip on the radar screen over here.

I'm going to say, "Carolina".

;)

I watched the last few minutes of the second period. They were really going at it.

But a few minutes of watching them seemingly aimlessly batting the puck up and down the ice was all I could stand.

Of course, had Nashville done better this post season I would've been completely enthralled. ;):D

Ihate, yeah hockey is played here and has a national league etc... but always struggling for crowds etc... i have been to a couple of games and yes they were good. but its never going to be big here.

Cricket doesnt get great crowds either but played by a lot of people, football rules and by that I mean proper football not the game in the USA that stole the name of our game :D
