souvenir Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 Richie is great I think. I can't believe that no one's replied to this! See what I mean about him being under appreciated His playing is very tasty. The Poison album Native Tongue, which has him on it, is my favourite of theirs. The other one is Crack a Smile which has Blues Saraceno! Richie's tone now with the Cornfords is just amazing. He said it's the only amp that he can plug straight into without the need for any kind of overdrive or booster pedal, although I think that he sometimes uses a Sobbat Drive Breaker.
Gabriel E. Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Masturbation. Like a faster, more classical version of EVH without the swing. No offence, but I think that Poison album (as with all their others) sucked. It was their attempt to go for a more bluesy sound after GNR got huge and grunge killed hair metal. It was still hair metal. "You never can vouch for your own consciousness." - Norman Mailer

Gifthorse Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 I had Kotzen's solo album. I don't remember, but he was insanely technical. God all these prodigy virtuosos all have HUGE hands. It must be nice. I mean seeing Ritchie's hands, I realize how big a stretch guys like him Vai, Holdsworth and a million other players have. http://flagshipmile.dmusic.com/ http://www.myspace.com/gifthorse

Yup, a downside of Richie is that there tends to be masturbatory riffing at times Some of the stuff he did with Greg Howe is really good Their version of contusion is pretty unique
MILLO Posted June 16, 2006 Posted June 16, 2006 Yup, he's incredible. I saw a vid of his once w/ a very gritty tone that I disliked. I'm guessing it was just a low-volume-tube-amp/bad-tone thing. Tone Taster Posted July 24, 2006 Author Posted July 24, 2006 Fast forward to 5:12 IT seems like the violinist steps on his toes, but it is hard to tell whether or not he signaled to her. It doesn't sound like he did. He plays pretty melodically on this one
