Hardtail
Here's an interesting blog from the guy I use to setup my guitars about what to use to polish a guitar. http://sbmacdonald.blogspot.com/ I'll be taking my new guitar to him to get a setup job. I'll have to ask him about this. Maybe he'll show me some of his guitars that are polished in this manner.

Hardtail
Caevan, Are they similar chemically? I've never heard of using an automotive product to polish a guitar. When my new guitar arrives, I may have this guy do a top-notch polish job for me just to see what it looks like (or if I feel sqeemish about using my new axe.. I'll have him show me one of his). The Geoff
I've been using car polish on my guitars (sparingly) since the 60s. There were no specialist products available to me back then. It gives a harder finish than furniture polish & is less prone to fingerprints. Dr. Ellwood
Nope, but I'm going to now..well I'm going to ask my guy first but I bet is great! Yeah and #7 is what they use too! http://www.thestringnetwork.com
Hardtail
Yeah, like I said, maybe I'll have this guy buff up my guitar to show me what this looks like. I bet the #7 with his buffer will make my white guitar glow. He's got some good blogs there if you read the other stuff. One of the things he mentioned is not to get suckered into extended warranties. When I ordered my axe, that was the first thing that was asked of me... I declined. If the guitar goes bad... I'll talk to Fender.
The Geoff
If this is auto polish, just go sparingly, as most auto polishes have an abrasive in. That's why I use it *sparingly*. Geoff Right Geoff! they say this #7 does not have a cleaner in it, there is a companion product they have that is a cleaner that does though. http://www.thestringnetwork.com

Dr. Ellwood
Right, see on our show cars they just use the #7 because those vehicles never are driven, in fact most of them are not powered at all, and have a dummy drive line. http://www.thestringnetwork.com
