Ed used to record with that guitar on songs that didn't require the whammy (I believe he used it on Running with the Devil among others).

He completely destroyed the guitar with the mods because he removed too much wood in the bridge area and that guitar became only good for pics :(

He regretted it but he had to do it in order to find out :)

Seriously, it's a neat site:

From an old Guitar World interview:

That's Ed's Ibanez Destroyer, made of korina wood. I believe he used that particular guitar on the first three albums where there was no need for a tremolo, like "Jamie's Cryin'". He cut a huge huge hunk out of it for the Women & Children First photo shoot. According to Ed, it completely killed the tone.

Ibanez sure used to make some nice copies.

I think of all of them, the EB/MMs and Peavey Wolfgangs are the coolest ones. That and the Flying V

I've got a lawsuit Explorer built in '76 that rivals any Gibson that I have played. Great guitar. BTW, I have read that Ibanez didn't make them out of korina, but I'm not sure what it is exactly. Mine was refinished before I bought it, but it looks like it could be ash(?), but I'm not sure.

If I'm not mistaken, this mini LP is what Ed used on the intro to Little Guitars (it's not difficult to see where he got the title for that one).
