This red Tele gets around a lot

This red Tele of mine seems to get around a lot.

This is an 89 American Standard with a few tweeks.... Duncan pickups wound as to Roy Buchanan's late Tele, a few wiring tweeks, different tuners to add a bit more headstock mass, reshaped fretboard and a few other tweeks.

The guitar was tweeked by David Neely at www.neelyguitars.com who built this for me about a decade and a half ago. David is a killer picker himself, from Nashville, but has been in L.A. for quite a few years. he is a killer guitar repair and restoration guy.

The "sticker" on the guitar is Marlene. You can see more of her at www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/models-marlene-b.html She is a killer singer. This is her favorite guitar when she plays ... hence the sticker that was added at some point.

This is Carl playing ... with his 64 Fender Twin Reverb.

This is John March - www.zenbluesmusic.com John is a killer player in his own right.

This is Maria ( http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/models-maria_g.html ) I don't know if folks even care that she does not play guitar

And last is Patrick ... from GT. This was prior to the Marlene sticker being placed on the guitar.

Hey, none of these folks got all Tele-snobby about that six-saddle, ain't-brass bridge, huh? ;) Musta been the sticker. :thu:

She's a looker, no doubt about it! (And the girl's pretty, too!)

Is that a compound/conical radius? In those pics, it looks like the end of the fretboard has a bigger, flatter radius to it than the nut-end.

And what are these "few wiring tweeks"? Can you tell us?

You've gotta post a clip for us, one that lets its distinct personality shine through the best... waddya think, Myles, me lad?

Bill,

I don't really know but I can say this ....

There was a guy with her for a few minutes at the photo shoot that lasted for three days with Implied Images ( http://www.onemodelplace.com/member.cfm?P_ID=85282 ) and http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/Implied_Images.html

When I said something about "her boyfriend" she looked at me and stated "I do NOT have a boyfriend" so I am guessing she is not all that attached.

Darklava ....

I really don't even attempt to pick up anything from Carl. It is sort of like if I was just starting to learn to make paper airplanes and expecting me to pick up tips from an F-104 pilot ... back in the days when pilots flew the planes rather than computers!

I would rather build the planes and have "pilots" like Carl as my "drivers"

Seriously though ... his workshops can make anybody play better. BUT ..... I will be happy to take Carl on when it comes to flying aerobatics or sailing!

Caevan_O'Shite....

The bridge is pressed steel saddles and I wanted them all to be able to be intonated individually. On original Teles I prefer the three saddle brass bridge and stamped piece.

The radius is about 9.75 at the nut going to about 10.75-11.00 at the body. The frets are bigger than stock. Thanks to David Neely for that work too.

The wiring is mostly set up so I could change pick guards with a humbucker setup and have a proper tone cap and be able to split the coil on the neck pickup when a PAF or Filtertron was in there. I also have a Firebird humbucker setup too. With the Firebird pickup David Neely dubbed it .... "my $5.00 tone", meaning my cheap sound with certain amps.

As far as a clip .... come on out to L.A. and you can play it and I will record you!

Y'know, I hope to one day take you up in that!

(Cool planes; your little fighter-jet kills me!)

I was kiddin' about the bridge-saddles; while I can appreciate the three-piece vintage-style (especially when tricked-out with those angled/intonated saddles), I think people sometimes get carried away with snobbery about these kinds of things...

Wow! I think I just got lucky there, I don't really think that I could visually detect a mere one inch of radius graduation over the length of the fretboard, especially just from a pic!

I bet that sounds great with the Filtertron in there, too! (Must be you're talking about sapping the neck-pickups only, with the same pickup there at the bridge.)

Yes ... the pickguards are swapped with bullet connectors for fast removal and replacement and yes ... only the neck pickup.
