wietse
picked up one today a 80's korean one, Arirang is the brand name, i already own another arirang neckthrough and knew they are great guitars for the money. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/wietse/my%20guitars/arirang.jpg this my old one 24 frets neckthrough and the fattest neck you've ever seen. but still i love it to bits, but now it has some competition, bought it for 90 euro (about 100 us $) 22 frets, nice chunky neck not that fat as the other one, great looks and plays like a dream. and the sustain it keeps on going. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/wietse/arirangdark.jpg i own a lot of guitars (42) but this one is sure one of my favourites, the tuners were completely worn out so i replaced them with a set of gold schallers i had laying around, going to pollish the gold of later. the only thing that bothers me a little bit is that the pickup poles are not exactly in line with the strings. the guitar is in near mint condition ,so if you ever see a guitar like this for sale near to you go for it, they are not perfect but for a 80's korean guitar they are awsom. even the pickups are not that bad very suitable for blues and rock imo. and lets be honest a neckthrough guitar for 100$ where do you find them? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/wietse/arirangdarkbodyflat.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/wietse/arirangdarkbackflat.jpg man i'm happy, i just wanted to share it with you guys the first one i got i tought it's a one off in quality. now i've seen more of these neckthroughs of this brand and they all are that good. http://www.wietsesguitars.nl
Caevan O’Shite
Cool! I bet they're nice 'n' spanky. What scale-length are they? They look like they'd lean more towards a Fenderish than a Gibsony scale... (Hard to tell just from pics like that, it's just my immediate impression.) I wonder, were they from the same source as those bearing the brand-name "Memphis" here in the US back in the '80s? Guitar Geezer
I've said it before: "That why we can't find any cool guitars over here. They're all in Europe and Wietse is buying them all!" See for yourself Lynn G

You might be on to something there Caev! ANd right before I left San Antone, Hermes had a few Washburns that looked just like that top one. Could't find anything on their website, but Hermes is incorporated out of Costa Rica, and are able to import a whole lotta strange stuff. Danzilla
Also looks like an Aria, maybe the Cardinal series? They were/are some sweet guitars, too. The first one almost looks like an old Carvin. Thanks for the pics, and play them since we can't!
