  1. I do not. Hi Theo, I don't know if you saw "Edit 2" in that reply I made, but I genuinely didn't mean to offend you, it was just a silly joke and I hope you didn't think it was a "dig" at you. It certainly wasn't intended as such. I am a tech guy myself and do appreciate all the thought and work that goes into prototyping. Kind Regards
  2. Please tell me you don't work as a "Wireman" for a defence electronics manufacturer, avionics or on nuclear power stations..... Edit 1 - I guess you could do the control of the Volume chips with a $10 Raspberry Pi Zero W (Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) which have GPIO - inc SPI - perhaps you have already done this. Edit 2 - As others have said Theo that is a great project - I do realise how much work must have gone into that, and please don't be offended by my silly joke about the "Wireman" - I know how prototyping is a hell of a lot of (seemingly) wild wiring!
  3. Thanks for that. Strange, I could have sworn he actually was by himself in that first video..................
  4. Brilliant! That young guy will be a successful engineer, I'm sure. Gives me hope for the future when you see dedicated youngsters like that.
  5. Mostly true I guess. I must admit to being a fair bit over 40 but was hoping to get a recent release above the place it reached.... UK Official Singles Chart
  6. Sorry I missed the "Not OT" - I thought you meant one of THESE I was gonna ask about fuel consumption. Edit - Actually I thought of a relevant question - Do you think it would be ok on an X stand?
  7. Thanks for posting that - really enjoyed it! The great thing about video is you can also see how much the musos are enjoying themselves. Cory is the man when it come to funky - IMHO.
  8. maybe, but angry young men grow up eventually (hopefully) But some happy young men become angry old men...fact. It's called "life".
  9. After seeing the other thread about Elvis Costello reminded me that although many may think his first broadcasting gig would have been in the late 70s it was actually playing drums and singing backing vocals for his dad Ross (a trumpeter and vocalist with Joe Loss) in a still well known and loved TV Ad for a favourite UK lemonade, in 1973. His dad wrote the music and sang the "lead" vocals, which were synced with the actor in the ad. Not quite Burt Bacharach, but was a bit of an "earworm" at the time.... [video:youtube]
  10. I think they've had something up their sleeves since...well the 80s most likely.
  11. Some sort of Musical Instrument Digital Interface type thing? Yes, if only......
  12. ...What to get me for Christmas... You should have said earlier! Sadly it's past the last mailing date to US from UK. I do expect I'll get some socks from Elmer though.
  13. No! No, no, no , no PLEASE no - don't do this! It is possible to not play that.........PLEASE I beg you...... As a Brit I must admit I (IMHO Elmer...) find the US veneration of the Beatles and the members a bit....um....."over the top" TBH....... If the silly old tosser (McCartney not Elmer) doesn't want to do Glastonbury 2021 because of the "risk of spreading CV..." then he should probably book into the care home now... I've never forgiven the Beatles for "She loves you" and my brother (5 years my senior) being caused to "sing" it into a reel to reel tape recorder at the time. I was only 4 going on 5..... I think I need to seek therapy for the memory......
  14. "I wonder how much experimentation it took to cut the PVC to get it in tune.." What you can have is a joining piece (unglued) on the bottom end, (will slightly change the length) which can be slid up or down slightly to fine tune - rather like some pipe organ pipes. Edit - after you have calculated the basic length for pitch and knocked off an amount to allow for the joiner of course...
  15. Variation on: "I don"t have a keyboard joke. But I do have a bass player joke." The joke is, he's in the band.
  16. Borealis doesn't like it's first name being used by others. Must be clever like "that" virus here in the UK, and elsewhere, that can tell the time!
  17. China or Russia responsible according to a Cyber Security guy on radio in UK. Could be. Solar "winds" also a possibility, I guess, as mentioned above. As at 17:00 UK time 14th Dec not confirmed yet by Google apparently.
  18. Yes I think my mate's tried that but he needs all the other stuff too. The Punk gigs should be ok with it, but I'm not so sure about the church and the praise band - mind you, he did say their tuning was a bit suspect, perhaps he doesn't want the congregation to think he's not playing correctly. I think quite a few might be past their best now. Shame really as I think a couple of them were, or still are, piano teachers, must be quite difficult if their pitch is "tits up", to use a UK term. Some of then even sound like Robert Plant in his younger day. Eeeww! I think he's being a bit optimistic to be fair, he did even say he hoped the switch to piano action make it feel a bit "vintage" - from about 1910(ish) period I think. I suggested he just got an old scrap piano from the local tip. Pity we're in the UK I see there are quite a few over there in the US still.
  19. Interesting! A Zynthian you say - sounds good - I think I might have to get one.....
  20. I have no idea anymore. Whatever! Wibble. Lifes a bitch and then you die.
  21. Completely agree, Actually, most Christmas songs annoy me. But you gotta like Brenda Lee. And I think they start earlier and earlier every year - I find this time of year hard to deal with anyway and this year doubly so. Why they think this is gonna chill everyone out is beyond me! As far as any pet peeve - there are many but "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" has to be up there! I know I became a curmudgeonly old git back when I "passed" 60 on my birthday, on my own, earlier this year under "lockdown" but I didn't realise how much it would affect how I feel about life. LOL! But I agree about Brenda Lee.
