1. We just released 3 banks of Hydrasynth patches with 128-patches per bank. 384 patches in total. The Scoop The Analoguesque Bread and Butter I and II banks contain classic presets that are useful in every music genre. Everything from analog resonant sweeps to FM, dark and unstable “modular” leads, thumping basses, eerie pads, to some classics from the 80’s, like the lead from Daft Punk’s “Da Funk”, Duran Duran’s “Save a Prayer”, or Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough” or “Nodisco”. One of the jewels is patch # 1: The Fairlight ARR1 preset. This sound is coveted by many, including myself, but is notoriously difficult to replicate on anything but a sampler. The Fairlight ARR1 (or SARRAR as it is also known) is used in many classic 80’s tracks by The Cars, Tears for Fears, Yazoo, Duran Duran, The Art of Noise, and many more. Remember the DX "Solid Bass" or "Lately Bass"? How about the classic "DX Epiano"? They are here. Bread and Butter I and II are a good mix of genres with plenty of bass sounds to keep you busy, and even some great “analog” drum and percussion for good measure. Don’t forget to play with the macro knobs though, because most of the sounds can be subtly or drastically changed with the twist of a macro knob, including the drums. The Analoguesque Esoteric I bank is a little more “out there”, with many atmospheric and large-sounding presets. A ton of these presets can easily fill gaps in any composition and although there are some standard synth sounds, most are centered on pads and leads, with some basses and FX. There are many choices that showcase the wide-ranging talent of the Hydrasynth. A lot of sonic ground is covered in these banks, so you will definitely find presets you love. The macro knobs expand the sonic palette even further, with some introducing subtle changes, while others create completely new sounds. 2. I added another 2 free banks banks to the website. The first is a set of 100 synthesized drum and percussion sounds. The Sledge is fantastic at super punchy "analog" percussion. I was really pleased with the percussive sounds that were possible on this synth - far better than other synths. The second bank is a mishmash of patches I used for covers (Depeche, HoJo, Duran, Yazoo, League, Numan ... etc). Some of them are uncannily close to the original sounds! I also included some experimentation with Blofeld settings not "officially" on the Sledge. Not just the usual hidden filters, but variations in noise color, unison modes with detuning, Brilliance, various filter drives, and I added the well known hidden filters just for good measure. Lots of stuff to play with http://analoguesque.x10host.com/Studiologic-Sledge-II/
3. I'm going to guess that you did not dig into it enough. My first encounter with the Sledge was pretty bad - the presets were horrible for my taste, and it showcased barely anything that this synth excels at. The worst part was that my first encounter was after I had bought it sight-unseen. Based on the presets alone I thought I had flushed a good bunch of $$$ down the cr@pper! It didn't take long before I realized I was mistaken and the presets only barely touched the surface. It is a very capable VA and the knobs alone put it way above many contenders, because it really is so bloody easy to program almost anything. Grit, warmth, brittle, analog, FM ⦠it's all in there. http://analoguesque.x10host.com/Studiologic-Sledge-II/
