  1. Thanks! I saw one guy doing it and it looked like he slapping three white whole notes, so it gives it a little mud, I think he was just slapping C-D-E all together, getting your hands syncopated well also helps bigtime it seems like.
  2. I wonder if some of you fine gents have any advice on this. I've seen some players play a chord in the right hand, and then do this syncopated tapping with a cluster of muddied notes in the bottom, maybe an octave lower, almost like playing bongos. It sounds really cool. I realise you need to have your rhythm chops together to make it work, but are there any settings you might suggest to get a nice gritty sound out of this trick? I'm guessin key click, for sure. Thanks in advance everyone
  3. Ugh, this keyboard is an abomination to music. Almost as much as that Seaboard or that ROLI thing.
  4. Every review I read these days it seems the reviewer is a '5-star it's perfect' shill.
  5. Has Roland really done anything decent aside from the VR-09/VR-730 in the last 10 years?
  6. Korg Poly 800 into my Tascom 244 Portastudio 4-TRACK CASSETTE. But then I've just come from 1986 in my Tardis so I have a lot of catching up to do.
  7. I've started using the windows editor which is genius, you are a genius, but my question is why are all these extra hidden sounds even better than what came stock on the keyboard? WTH????? The organs and pianos aren't but the synth sounds are inspirational. I've written a lot of music on this board already and it's bringing new life for me now. Easily 5 or 6 of my songs (which are effing awesome if I do say so myself) were written on the VR-09 and these new sounds have not only helped me make what I have better but given me at least another 3 great ideas right off the bat.
  8. Nothing can replace an original DX7. Nothing.
  9. Not gonna lie, as a Yamahor, this keyboard gives me the horn.
  10. New to here. Just a throwaway comment, I have quite a number of keyboards, my wife who is a trombone virtuoso/orchestral musician, maintains this is my best sounding keyboard, especially when I'm using synth or organ. Interesting. I hate the keybed but it is what it is. I use a Yamaha digital grand for the keybed quality and the amazing piano sound, so this thing (VR-09) can be infuriating, but she thinks it sounds great. go figure eh. EDIT: Based on the previous posts - the Vox sound is horrible on the VR-09
