Korg Collection EP1 vs. EP1 hardware, other VSTs
Keepitsimple replied to AnotherScott's topic in The Keyboard Corner
I was never a fan of the EP-1 engine in my Kronos. Not to my surprise, that engine is pure modeling, which is why i never liked it. I switched to Keyscape immediately after it was released and used that for EP duties... -
So many memories on that forum. That was my main "hangout" back when i had my Kronos between 2011 and 2018. Good to see it's only maintenance.

Couldn't be more stoked for my Eagles, especially that defense. It's scary how disciplined they are. It's like a well oiled flawless machine. I think the key to beat the Lions will be that defense playing their best game.

Eagles-Chiefs rematch Super Bowl is my prediction. Andy Reid will find a way to take care of the Ravens in the AFC. Eagles will have their revenge on the refs and win the super bowl this time.

Yeah beats me how some managers think. Maybe he's a safety backup and they believe he might "shine" with their system as well. Who knows. I always blame the coaches first before blaming the player. But that's just me.

It was actually a historic game in terms of stats involving missed FG, blocked kicks and some other stuff. You live.....you learn with this season's Cowboys team i guess lol.

Cowboys finally won a game. Good news for my Eagles as they increase their lead in the division over the Commanders. 49ers getting blown out. Eagles need to take care of business against the Rams.

According to Craig on VI Control, his Kawai ES-920 has this option: "Key-off Effect – Volume of the damper touching the strings before vibrations are stopped"

So i just discovered this awesome "Touch" setting in my RD-88 EX that will make it really hard for me to part ways with it in the future. This setting is not available in other PHA-4 Roland pianos ala FP-10/30X/60X. It's called "Key off Position". The description by Roland is self explanatory....BUT...what they don't realize is that the "DEEP" setting works like magic with acoustic piano sounds, not just electric pianos. The resulting "feeling" is very close to playing a real acoustic action, and more specifically something like an upright. What the "DEEP" does is an illusion of a much slower key return, which really reminds me of playing those U3 urpights i learned classical on. The result with "deep" is a more harmonious feeling in terms of touch and action. Here's an animated graph that ChatGPT did in order to explain this more: Piano Key Animation.mp4 Bottom line: I cannot play on "standard" anymore after switching to "deep". I LOVE IT!

What sucks about the Roland RD-88? (time sensitive)
Keepitsimple replied to D. Gauss's topic in The Keyboard Corner
I had a two-tier X stand that was inevitably covering part of the speakers (had to do it because of height/width ratio related to how low i like to sit), and the SN3 pianos on my EX sounded muffled. The "Concert Grand" scenes sounded much better hence they're brighter than the SN3 expansion pianos. Anyway, when i got a Z stand, the speakers finally breathed, but the sound is still way inferior compared to monitors or external speakers of course. They sound good on headphones. I remember liking the speakers on the FP-30X when i tested it. I thought they're better than the RD-88's. -

In my opinion, the EX SN3 pianos are more than decent Really enjoyable. And trust me, my ears have long been spoiled by the best of the best sample libraries out there. Last night i was exploring dual layers on all the SN3 AP patches and i got lost in playing. Those pads layers by Roland really take things further. Happy camper with my EX. -

Also, i played the FP-10, FP-30X and FP-60X. They all feel the same as the RD-88. The PHA-4 feels universally the same on all those boards. I highly recommend not using any X-stand with this action. Any Z-stand or table-top stand would be better. Even better if you use Roland's recommendations: Roland - KS-13 | Keyboard Stand Roland - KS-11Z | Keyboard Stand -

I extensively edited my post above to clarify and be more fair and clear
