    Hi Jerry,

I have a Roland Street Cube EX and would not consider upgrading or changing the speakers as I think they work very well.  Busking outdoors really doesn't call for the best speakers in the world.  I put mine on a speaker stand and get it up off the ground for weddings, deck parties, indoor/outdoor gigs and it works great even up against my buddy drummer, lead guitar, my rhythm guitar, and harmonica players.  If playing an important gig, I plug into 120ac and use the 50watt setting.  Normal gigs I use the 25 watt setting 8 AA battery dc or 120ac adapter, acoustic deck jams I leave it on the ground and just use the 10 watt battery setting. Depends on how long and where you are going to be busking. You get better sound on the 25 and 50 watt settings but battery life is shorter. 20hours on 10, 10 hours on 25 and 5 hours on 50.  The wattage settings changes the sound of the speakers in outdoor and indoor settings.  I usually play solo at 25 watts plugged into 120ac using the adapter.  Also the batteries last a lot longer if you take the batteries out when you are not using them (i.e., running at home or gigs on 120ac).  I always pack the adapter if there is 120 near by and an extra 8 batteries (just incase the batteries get week) and bring an extension cord.  The battery check gives plenty of warning on battery status which is a great feature.

I only use the clean amp setting on the guitar channel with no chorus/delay and the reverb a tad over 1/2 way, volume a little less than 1/2 way. On the vocal mic channel I run the volume 3/4 of the way up, reverb 3/4 of the way up.  Make sure the mic/inst switch is set to mic so your tweeters kick in.  The EQ adjustments are not that great so I run the bass 3/4 or the way up,  middle and treble 1/4 of the way up on both channels.

The amps go for $599 new so there really should be no issues with the speakers and tweeters.  I would try different settings and make sure you have a good mic for your vocals before changing speakers.  My mic's are Carvin Shure 57's.  I agree that speakers can make a big difference in poor performing amps but Roland has a pretty good idea of which speakers they prefer.  Change them if you must though LoL!  And, Have fun with it!    😎👍

thank you very much! Can i have a photo of your vocals settings - eq ?

  2. Hello,

Just bought digitech Sdrum and would like to combine it with one or two jamman express xt through jamsync.

    My question:

I would like to know if I can do this:

Let's say I have a verse and a chorus drum part. Is it possible to have a guitar loop in the verse part and a different guitar loop in the verse drum part?

Of course I am talking about the possibility of each guitar loop part to begin automatically..

    Is that possible?

    Thanx in advance

  3. @ Jerry, OK I'm back home now. On Channel 1 the vocal channel, make sure the switch is set on the mic side. I set both Channels 1 and 2 the same on Bass 3:00pm or 3/4, Middle 9:00am or 1/4, Treble 9:00am or 1/4...on the mic volume channel I set it a little less than 3/4 or 2:50pm on the guitar channel 2 I set the volume a little less than 1/2 or 11:50am. I am on the clean amp setting and I turn the chorus/delay to off. On the mic channel 1, I set the reverb at 3/4 or 3:00pm and on the guitar channel 2, I set the reverb at a little less than 3/4 or 2:50pm. I leave the Power set at Normal or 25 watts. Hope this is helpful or at least gives you a starting point that you can adjust from...

It was very helpful. Thanx a lot

  4. @ Jerry, I'm away from home right now so I'll get back to you on my settings. I'm always on the clean channel setting. If it's an outdoor gig using batteries, I like to use the Eco power setting as it will last all day. If I need more volume I'll use the 25watt middle power setting. It will last about 3 hours. The sound stays the same through all 3 power settings but each increase in power does increase the volume level regardless of settings. I always pack an extra set of batteries. When at home I use AC at the 25 watt middle setting and rarely use the 50watt setting. I'm going to do a wedding outdoors short set gig later this year and plan to use the 50watt setting. I store the battery pack in my bag. It helps the batteries last longer and it's easy to take the battery pack in and out when not using them. A good mic makes a difference too. My guitar volume is always under my vocal volume using either the amp or the guitar volume controls. I use my compressor pedal to crank up/down the volume for a clean boost lead work. I can get by without the compressor pedal and just use the volume controls on the guitar for packing light. I'll get back to you...

Thanx. How much volume you have in voice channel?

  5. Hello,

I have cube street ex and I am a busker. I would like to know from singers out there what are your settings on voice channel. Especially about volume and mode you choose. Eco or normal etc

I am always on Eco mode but with volume in around 3/4 which is ok for me

    Can you help ?

    Thanx in advance

  6. Hello,

I am plan to get digitech trio plus + the foot-switch in order to complete my busking setup.

Actually i need this *full* band backing drum n bass.

My main question is: if with the extra footswitch can someone select the next of before song part.

As far as i can see in youtube it is possonle for someone to get to second part and then in the 3th etc. But i have not seen anywhere if it is possible for someone to get from the 3th part back to the 2nd for example

    Can you help?

    Thanx in advance

  7. Hello...! I did try again the 3th channel with the looper...but for some reason i get a strange sound like pom pom pom which is in replay mode. I cannot explain it better.

My looper is rc1 boss. What i made wrong? Cables and inputs outputs are as you told me. Can you help me?

  8. Thanx again. Finally the only way about looper was to: Plug the line out from the back of the street ex into your looper, then go from looper out into the aux in on the street ex...

The way with 3th channel did not work :/

As for the sound, i just did realize that i have chosen clean mode and not the acoustic one. It sound more natural to me.

In any case my main question if this preamp would make cause a damage in the amp. I may try a compressor + boss ge7 eq in order to give the final touch to my sound.

I think that is better to get over the inside fx :)

    Many thanx :)

  9. Welcome to the Guitar Player Forum, Jerry1980!:rawk: The short answer is, no.

The longer answer is, you might overdrive the input of your Roland Cube Street EX amp if you turn up the output volume of the Harley Benton Acoustic Preamp pedal very high (assuming that the HB Pre has enough output power); this could cause an overdriven, distorted sound, that you may or may not even find desirable, also depending on the COSM model mode that you may use. (What guitar are you using with this amp and these pedals? What style of music are you playing the most and what sounds are you going for?)

But this probably wouldn't damage your Roland amp or its speakers, unless you turned EVERYTHING WAY UP VERY HIGH and got a lot of runaway feedback and played VERY hard. You will probably just get badly distorted tone before you ever even begin to damage the amp or speakers.

You might experiment and try connecting your Harley Benton Preamp via your Cube EX Amp's Line-In input; also, via the XLR input with an XLR cable, if you haven't already.

Eco Mode will save on your portable Roland Cube EX amp's battery-life, though as you've noted, it will also reduce the available output-power, and probably make any unwanted overdrive and distortion more likely. You will get a lot more available output-volume and clean headroom in full power mode and may not even need the Harley Benton Preamp to raise your volume- your amp will just run out of battery power sooner.

Many thanx !! I actually have an acoustic guitar. I have set the amp in clean mode. I have never heard any distorted sound :) What is the difference using xlr instead of the simple jack?? Also what is the best way to connect a looper if I want to use the effects of the amp ??? ( Because if I connect it front there is an echo in any loop )

  10. Hello,

I have a roland cube street ex and recently i tried to 'upgrade' my guitar sound with 3 pedals.

A looper rc1, a boss ge7 eq and in front of them an acoustic harley benton preamp with teverb and chorus.

This preamp is capable of making the sound more clear and of course more loud.

Actually i have the amp in echo mode ( this means it will use only 10 watts of its maximum 50 watt power ) and volume at 9 o clock. Without preamp i have to set it around 3 o clock in order to hear well my guitar.

My question is that: Can this preamp cause some kind of damage in the amp?

    Thanx in advange
