  1. Yeah, I use it to sync many files across different computers and a phone. A huge bummer! There is a comparison picture somewhere between an old and a new app, and it seems like new functionality sucks for me. Have to look for alternatives now.
  2. Can't agree, it highly depends on your place of residence. For example, it's not hard to get an older, used piano for 100-200$ in Ukraine, and repair it to a decent level for another 200-300.
  3. > Evans recounted that when he suggested that he was entitled to a share of the royalties, Davis wrote him a check for $25.
  4. Try to record your playing in a band and listen to what he was finding bad in your left-hand, if that's an option. Maybe you were doubling his lines? Might help to understand his point.
  5. Yep, I did the next day I created this post - although he said he got his app in a different way - not sure how it worked out. Might be someone gifted it to him or something. Well, he mostly said the same things that are already in this thread, so..
  6. Recently attended a jazz workshop, and the teacher there was using Erskine Jazz Essentials app for play along and as a fakebook. If anyone is familiar with it, any thoughts on it vs iReal? Also, there are at least 3 "tomes" of it available in appstore, although I couldn't find any info about the tracks included on the internet. Can anyone help? Many thanks
  7. That's a hot topic. Surprised there are no legid advices from the community, yet.
  8. Cool stuff. There is at least one more video of their duo on YT. IIRC they were playing Spain there
  9. Thanks for good advices guys @J_tour Yeah, option with a cheap LCD monitor looks good to me; I'll wander around the city and maybe'll find something for cheap. I also started thinking in a way, that maybe it is better to get an iPad, it probably can be more useful. Although curious what are the prices nowadays.. Haha yeah, it's awesome. Worked hard to set all of it up.
  10. I decided to upgrade my setup once again recently, and bought myself a mac mini that'll be used only for music related things. Now, I'm lacking a screen for it, and thought maybe someone has some suggestions for that? I imagine it would be good to place it just behind the piano on the windowsill, and it probably has to be middle/small sized. But buying the first one I see is not my style, so to say. Any advice? Maybe some bottlenecks? Haven't worked/studied on screen much. edit: here's the photo of how things are right now Much appreciated, C.
  11. Late to the party, but yes, it's a matter of software.
  12. If good key action is all you care for - take a look at kawai vpc1. Although it is a midi controller, not a digital piano - so you'll need to get the sounds from a pc/laptop. I have it myself and am very pleased with it overall.
  13. As they're not mentioned yet - gogo penguin.
  14. I use Kawai's F30 pedal that comes witn vpc1, but with this modification. Have no clue how it would work with other controllers though. AFAIS - works like a charm, shouldn't ever brake down thanks to the mod, and you can change calibration in the pedal's app.
  15. For me that would be other art, especially modern illustrators. I'm terrible at drawing, but I make good use of Instagram as an app for watching my favorite artists draw/make new things.
  16. Thank you for advices guys. I think I'll make a list of things we need to discuss at the first lesson, so not to forget anything. @Outkaster I think this teacher won' t really be 'interested' in my development unfortunately, as I've seen how she acts in public and with her husband especially. Often not a pleasant show, she's not that kind of a person (hope I'm wrong, maybe she just wasn't in the mood). On a good side I am a demanding person when it comes to teaching, so hope we'll get along and everyone will get what they want. @CaptainUnderpant I think me and 'after about 1 year'-you are somewhat similar. Right now I'm struggling with where to put my 2-3 hours a day when practicing, it's one of the main reasons I decided to get a teacher. I think a good musician will have to teach himself eventually (agreeing on this with one pianist who I heard it from), and hope these lessons will guide me on that path.
  17. I finally found a (jazz)pianist that I'm willing to take lessons from, and I never got lessons besides music school when I was a kid. So I have a very limited understanding of how should it look like. Any advices on what to pay more attention / ask the teacher? I'm planning to record it anyways, but what would bring more efficiency to it?
  18. Most of people I play with have a main job that pays well - and are doing music as a hobby (and dreaming of making money out of it, after rehearsals or on a smoke break). Great story, Jazzooo! Thanks for sharing.
  19. Thought it might be interesting to some of you. Here is the link. Curious if someone hears 'triton paradox' sound go both ways at the same time?
  20. Here you go, I believe this is it. [video:youtube] edit: at least my job taught me how to google effectively
  21. Looks sexy. The price will definitely bite.
  22. Don't know much about the topic, but first thing that comes to mind is that there will be a huge delay with a bluetooth pedal, wouldn't there? Milliseconds make a huge difference on midi keyboards, I think it'd work the same way with pedals.
  23. [video:youtube] Used to listen it on the train one winter all the time.
  24. After almost one year, my setup went from none to complete. Last purchase: K&M 18953 stand! No more cabinets under the piano (but now I see how many wires it has), finally can put my legs there.
